Objective:There are still few studies about risk factors for common symptoms of pathological scar, the most common complication after burning or wounding,at home and abroad. In this study,we collected the data of patients with pathological scar after burning ? To investigate the risk factors for itching and pain, thus to provide some help for clinical prevention and alleviation of scar itching and pain symptoms. Methods:This study included and collected general information of 82 patients with post-burn pathological scar formation who were treated in the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from December 2016 to December 2018.The information included the general condition of the patient(gender,Age,height, weight, eating habits, family history of pathological scars, etc.),burns(burn causes, burn depth, burn area, treatment methods, etc.),and scar condition(proliferation time, symptoms, scar treatment,etc.).After the univariate analysis of all variables by logistic regression, variables with P < 0.10 were further applied to multivariate analysis by logistic stepwise regression to evaluate the correlation between various factors and pathological scar itching and pain symptoms.Results:(1)The major symptoms of scar after burning or trauma are skin color change, itching, pain, abnormal aesthesia, and severe limb dysfunction caused by contracture deformity.(2)In the analysis of risk factors for pathological scar pruritus, feminine, smoking, spicy diet, and facial and neck scar were independent risk factors.Female patients are more prone to scar itching. The risk of pathological scar itching in male patients is only 0.259 times that of female patients.Smoking,1.367 times higher than no-smoking,was also found to be associated with pathological scar itching;Pathological scar patients who kept a habit of spicy diet are more likely to have scar itching than those with normal diet, whose scar itching symptoms were presented with only 0.569 times that of spicy diet. The scar itching symptoms were more likely to appear on the head and face than in other parts of the body, such as the limbs. The likelihood of scar pruritus on the limbs is 0.728 times that in head and face, while that on torso is only 0.618 times that in head and face.(3)In the analysis of risk factors for pathological scar pain symptoms after burn or trauma, age,BMI,hydrothermal scald, and scar texture were the independent risk factors. The probability of having scar pain symptoms among the older increased by 1.523 times for every 10 years of age increase; The likelihood of scar pain in pathological scars patients increased by 3.844 times once the BMI increases by 2.The possibility of scars pain among pathological scars caused by hydrothermal scald is greater than that among scars arising from any other causes, scar pain presented in scars caused by burns showed only 0.682 times that of hydrothermal burns, while scars caused by other reasons with scar pain were only 0.028 times that caused by hydrothermal scald;patients with hard scars are more likely to have pain. The possibility of scar pain in patients with a slightly harder scar is 0.737 times that those with a hard scar. The possibility of scar pain in patients with soft scars is only 0.586 times that with hard scars.Conclusion:(1)The common clinical symptoms of pathological scar after burn are skin color change, itching, pain, and abnormal aesthesia;(2)The independent risk factors for pathological scar itching after burn are feminine, smoking, spicy diet, and facial and neck scars;(3)The independent risk factors for pathological scar pain after burn are age, high BMI,hydrothermal burn, and scar texture.
