Objective : To study expression of mechanism of three mediums (inducible nitric oxide synase,c-fos and 5-hydroxytryptamine ) in abnormal scars and normal skin and the relationship between the mediums and itching or painful of abnormal scarring scars .Methods: The immunohistochemistry(IHC) method was applied to study expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS),c-fos and 5- hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)in 40 cases of abnormal scars and 20 cases of normal skin. Semi-quantitative analysis of the results was made by image analysis to understand the correlation between the mediums and abnormal scars. Results: 1. In the normal skin and abnormal scars ,c-fos, iNOS and 5-HT were all positive. 2.To compare itching or painful scars with normal skin, c-fos, iNOS and 5-HT expression were all significantly higher (p<0.01). 3. To compare non-itching or painful scars with normal skin, c-fos and iNOS expression were significantly higher (p<0.01), 5-HT expression was no difference(p>0.05).4. In the itching or painful scars, c-fos and 5-HT expression were significantly higher than the ones in non-itching or painful scars(p<0.01);iNOS expression was no difference(p>0.05).Conclusion: c-fos and iNOS may correlate with the scarring of the abnormal scars, higher expressions of c-fos and iNOS may contribute to the forming of the abnormal scars ; c-fos and 5-HT may correlate with the itching and painful symptom of abnormal scars, higher expressions of c-fos and 5-HT may induce itching and painful symptom of abnormal scars clinically.Postgraduate: Chen Zhenyu (Anatomy) D i rected by: Prof. Shao Xujian...
