Objective:In this study,a randomized controlled trial was conducted to compare the efficacy of ultrasound-guided Mammotome minimally invasive surgery combined with catheter irrigation and drainage with traditional incision and drainage in the treatment of breast abscess. In this paper,we were going to explore a minimally invasive, less painful and more effective surgical method for the treatment of breast abscess. Methods:We searched breast abscess patients complied with the conditions set in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University and Jingan County People ' s Hospital. Those patients were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group underwent ultrasound-guided Mammotome minimally invasive surgery combined with catheter irrigation and drainage. The control group underwent conventional incision and drainage(I&D).Patients in both groups received systemic antibiotics therapy after surgery. We followed up those cases and recorded some clinical data of both groups included the amount of intraoperative blood loss, the score of postoperative painess, the frequency of incisional dressing change, healing time, postoperative complications, cosmetic effect and the recurrence rate of the first half year after surgery. The SPSS software was used to analysed the data and compared the clinical curative effect of the two surgical methods to come to the conclusions.Results:1.A total of 50 patients with breast abscess were enrolled in this study, which included 26 patients in the control group and 24 patients in the experimental group. There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in age, pregnancy frequency, abscess diameter and preoperative history of relevant diseases(P>0.05),which enable the data to be comparable.2.There were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in the amount of intraoperative blood loss, the score of postoperative painess, the frequency of incisional dressing change, healing time, scar length and postoperative breast deformation. And the experimental group was superior to the control group in these respects with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).3.There was no significant difference between the two groups in operative time, the recurrence rate of half a year and postoperative complications which included incision infection, residual abscess and breast fistula(P>0.05).Conclusion:Compared with I&D,the minimally invasive surgery has a faster postoperative recovery, less pain and better cosmetic effect. And it was comparable to the traditional I&D in postoperative complications and palindromia. So we recommend this surgical method for the treatment of breast abscesses. However, more clinical trials and studies are required to further explore the optimal abscess diamete of this minimally invasive surgery.
