Objective:The study is designed to observe the effect of Bazhen decoction on enhanced recovery after min imally invasive hip arthroplasty, and to explore a new method for enhanced recovery after surgery by integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine. Methods:A total of 32 patients were randomly divided into treated and control group. In the control group, the perioperative management of enhanced recovery after surgery was performed.Additionally the treated group received oral Bazhen decoction from 1d to 14d postoperatively. The hidden blood loss after surgery, hemoglobin level, fatigue visual analogue scales, brief profile of mood states, identity consequence fatigue scale were compared between the two groups.Results:30 patients were strictly implemented in the study program and fully followed up,the treated group(n=15)and the control group(n=15).There was no significant difference in gender, age, height, weight,BMI,preoperative hemoglobin, hematocrit,American society of anesthesiologists score, fatigue visual analogue scales, brief profile of mood states, identity consequence fatigue scale between the two groups(P>0.05).The hidden blood loss in the treated group was significantly less than that in the control group(P<0.05).The hemoglobin level of the treated group was significantly higher than that of the control group at day 3 and day 14 after surgery(P<0.05).The fatigue visual analogue scales, brief profile of mood states, identity consequence fatigue scale of the treated group were significantly lower than those of the control group at day 3 and day 14 after surgery(P<0.05).The time of walking without walker was significantly shorter in the treated group than in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in postoperative hospital stay between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Postoperative oral Bazhen decoction can effectively reduce postoperative hidden blood loss, improve the level of hemoglobin, relieve postoperative fatigue, shorten the time of walking without walker, and enhanced recovery after minimally invasive hip arthroplasty.
