OBJECTIVE:Isolated temporal horn syndrome is a syndrome caused by hydrocephalus characterized by localized enlargement of the temporal horn.Postoperative complications of lateral ventricular tumors are more common in the trigone and body tumors. However, the analysis of factors leading to the occurrence of these complications is rarely discussed in domestic and foreign literatures. Therefore,it is of clinical significance to actively explore the risk factors of isolated temporal horn syndrome after lateral ventricular tumor resection for the prevention and reduction of such complications in the operation of lateral ventricular tumor.METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed on 112 patients with lateral ventricular tumor surgery admitted to the first affiliated hospital of guangxi medical university from January 2012 to October 2018.Statistical analysis was performed on the general situation, clinical characteristics, imaging examination, intraoperative situation, postoperative complications, whether the surgery was unplanned or not,and postoperative follow-up.RESULT:In this group,61 patients(54.46%)with lateral ventricular tumor were complicated with isolated temporal horn syndrome after surgery.Univariateanalysis indicated that the risk of isolated temporal horn increased significantly in patients with history time(>12 months),tumor growth site(triangulation),tumor texture, hemostasis materials placed in the operative area, postoperative meningitis, and postoperative indwelling ventricular external drainage time(>6days).Further Logistic regression analysis showed that the duration of the disease was 12 months(>)(OR:0.694).P: 0.040),postoperative meningitis(OR:21.595,P= 0.003),and intraoperative hemostatic material(OR:5.469,P: 0.002)were independent risk factors for postoperative isolated temporal horn syndrome.CONCLUSIONS: Among the tumors of lateral ventricle, the incidence of isolated temporal horn syndrome is relatively high in postoperative tumors of posterior body region and triangle region. In this group of data, found that the clinical history is long(> 12 months),intraoperative surgical area were hemostatic materials and the management of postoperative meningitis associated with concurrent isolated temporal Angle syndrome happened, discover the lateral ventricle tumors, intraoperative ventricular wall protection, the use of intraoperatie reduce hemostatic materials and postoperative meningitis prevention management can reduce the risk of isolated temporal Angle syndrome happened has important clinical significance.Explore and confirmed that could lead to lateral ventricle tumor surgery triangle cerebrospinal fluid circulation channel narrow risk factors, for the next line of lateral ventricle tumors actively to prevent, reduce and avoid the complications provide favorable basis and methods, and for the treatment of isolated temporal Angle need to actively explore, choose the most ideal treatment, reduce the pain of patients with multiple not plan the operation and the economic burden.
