ObjectivesTo understand the status quo of the activities of daily living among the elderly in China,explore the main influencing factors of the damage,and put forward feasible suggestions for the improvement of the daily life ability of the elderly.MethodsUsing the respondents of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study in 2015,delete some missing samples,5087 elderly samples aged 60 years and older were selected as subjects.And establish the database by SPSS22.0 for statistical description,chi-square test and logistic regression analysis,analyze the status quo of the daily life ability loss and the main influencing factors of the elderly in China.Results1.Basic information of the elderly: among the sample of 5087 elderly people,2790 were female elderly,accounting for 54.8%;the elderly aged 60-year-old had 3313,accounting for 65.1%;4169 elderly people in marriage,accounting for 82.0%;rural elderly accounted for the majority,at 61.1%;illiterate elderly accounted for more than half,at 55.5%.2.Status of daily living ability of the elderly: the living capacity of the elderly in China is seriously impaired,the disability rate is 49.7%;the physical disability rate is 32.2%,and the toilet project is the most seriously damaged;the instrumental daily living ability disability rate is 39.3%,and the housework project was the most damaged.3.Univariate analysis results: there was a statistically significant difference in the rate of impairment of the activities of daily living of the elderly(P<0.05)in different gender,age,marital status,regional distribution,urban-rural distribution,education level,smoking,drinking,social disability,disability,chronic illness,depression,different life satisfaction,self-assessed health status and type of medical insurance;there was a statistically significant difference in the rate of impairment of the physical activities of daily living of the elderly(P<0.05)in different gender,age,marital status,regional distribution,urban-rural distribution,education level,drinking,social activity,disability,chronic illness,depression,different life satisfaction,self-rated health status,type of medical insurance,and per capita annual consumption expenditure;there was a statistically significant difference in the rate of impairment of the instrumental activities of daily living of the elderly(P<0.05)in different gender,age,marital status,regional distribution,urban-rural distribution,education level,smoking,drinking,social activity,disability,chronic illness,depression,different life satisfaction,self-rated health status,and type of medical insurance.4.Results of logistic regression analysis:gender,age,regional distribution,urban-rural distribution,education level,drinking,disability,chronic illness,depression and self-rated health status were the influencing factors of activities of daily living;age,regional distribution,education level,disability,chronic illness,depression,self-rated health status and per capita annual consumption expenditure were the influencing factors of physical activities of daily living;gender,age,region distribution,urban-rural distribution,education level,drinking,social activity,disability,depression,self-rated health status and type of medical insurance were the influencing factors of instrumental activities of daily living.ConclusionsAge,regional distribution,education level,disability status,depression status and self-evaluation health status were the main influencing factors of the daily life ability of all aspects of the elderly in China.Government department should strengthen response strategy to improve the health of the elderly.
