A Study On The Relationship Between Demoralization Syndrome And Coping Style?Social Support Among Patients With Gastric Cancer

Objectives:To investigate the status of demoralization syndrome,coping style and social support among the patients with gastric cancer.;Analysis of the factors affecting the level of demoralization syndrome among patients with gastric cancer;To explore the relationship between demoralization syndrome,coping styles and social support,in order to reduce the incidence of demoralization syndrome among the patients with gastric cancer,improve their quality of life,and at the same time to provide reference for medical staff to implement targeted intervention measures.Methods:cross-sectional survey is used in this study.Since August 2018 to November2018,researcher choose two hospitals in Nanchang.A face-to-face questionnaire survey was conducted on patients with gastric cancer who met the inclusion criteria.The tools of investigation include the general demographic information and questionnaire consisting of Demoralization Scale(DS),the Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire(MCMQ),and the Social Support Revalued Scale(SSRS).SPSS17.0statistical software is used for statistical analysis of the data.Results:(1)The score of demoralization syndrome in patients with gastric cancer was35.49±12.79,and the score of loss of meaning and purpose,dysphoria,disheartenment,helplessness and sense of failure was1.14±0.68?1.61±0.59?1.83±0.56?1.41±0.74and1.39±0.64.(2)The score of coping style in patients with gastric cancer was 40.55±5.27,which the face coping style was 2.07±0.52,the avoid coping style was 2.01±0.37,and the yield coping style was 1.92±0.28.(3)The score of social support in patients with gastric cancer was 36.17±8.22,the score of subjective support?objective support?utilization of social support was5.48±1.28?3.27±0.64 and 1.56±0.66.(4)The results of single factor analysis showed that gender?education degree?family monthly income?disease stage?disease diagnosis time and whether there was recurrence were influenced the demoralization syndrome in patients with gastric cancer,statistically significant(P<0.05).(5)Correlation analysis showed that the demoralization syndrome of patients with gastric cancer was negatively related to face coping style and social support(P<0.01),positively related to yield coping style(P<0.01).(6)The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that yield coping,education degree,social support and family monthly income were the important influencing factors of demoralization syndrome in patients with gastric cancer,which can explain 62.4% of the variation.Conclusion:(1)The demoralization syndrome in patients with gastric cancer is at a moderate level,and the coping styles adopted are mainly face coping style and avoid coping style,the degree of social support is a little bit higher than moderate.(2)Education level,monthly family income,social support and yielding coping style are the main influencing factors of demoralization syndrome among patients with gastric cancer.(3)Medical staff should pay attention to alleviate the deficiency of demoralization syndrome of gastric cancer patients from the aspects of patients,family members,society and so on,so as to improve the mental health level of patients,and then to improve the quality of life of gastric cancer patients.
