Objective:Through clinical research, analyzing and comparing the curative effects of two acupuncture methods for treating hemifacial spasm.Which treatment group use facial shallow acupuncture and contralateral collateral alternate needling with scalp acupuncture, the control group use conventional acupuncture. In order to provide a more efficient treatment scheme of primary hemifacial spasm.Methods:70 patients who meet standards were randomly divided into two groups according to random number table. The treatment group was treated with facial shallow acupuncture and contralateral collateral alternate needling with scalp acupuncture, while the control group was treated with conventional acupuncture. The two groups took acupuncture once every other day.The treatment group alternated the contralateral sides with the stenostic sides every other times. There are 3 treatment courses and each course includes 10 times.Using grading evaluation form of hemifacial spasm strength(Cohen grading)and frequency(Penn grading)to evaluate the change of strength and frequency before the treatment and the end of each period.Comparing the effective rate after 3 treatment courses. All the statistics are processed and analyzed by SPSS 17.0.Results:1.Baseline data: Before the treatment, comparing the two groups of baseline data include patients' gender, age, pattern of syndrome, course of disease, hemifacial spasm strength and frequency.P>0.05,there was no statistical significant difference and the baseline data was comparable.2.Comparison in the group:? After the first period of the treatment, comparing the treatment group's spasm strength and frequency with the prior treatment,P<0.01,there was an obvious difference, which indicated that the treatment group could improve the hemifacial spasm strength and frequency significantly.? After the first period of the treatment,Comparing the control group's spasm strength and frequency with the prior treatment,P<0.05,there was a significant difference, which indicated that the control group could improve the hemifacial spasm strength and frequency.3.Comparison between the two groups:? After the first period of the treatment, comparing the treatment group's spasm strength and frequency with the control group,P>0.05,there was no significant difference, which indicated that the two groups treatment were no obvious differences in improving the spasm strength and frequency when the first period of the treatment finished.?After the second period of the treatment, comparing the two group's spasm strength and frequency,P<0.05,there was a significant difference, which indicated that the two groups treatment had differences in improving the spasm strength and frequency when the second period of the treatment finished, and the treatment group was superior to the control group.? After the third period of the treatment, comparing the treatment group's spasm strength and frequency with the control group,P<0.01,there was an obvious difference, which indicated that the two groups treatment had obvious differences in improving the spasm strength and frequency when the third period of the treatment finished, and the treatment group was superior to the control group.4.Curative effects comparison After the three period of the treatment, there were 3 cases ineffective in treatment group,8 cases effective,11 cases markedly effective,9 cases cured, the effective rate was 90.32%.There were 6 cases ineffective in control group,13 cases effective,9cases markedly effective,4 cases were cured, the effective rate was 81.25%.Total curative effects comparison?Comparing the two group's total curative effects,P<0.05,there was a significant difference, which indicated that the two groups had differences in curative effects, and the treatment group was superior.?Comparing the curative effects by the course of disease distribution :After the three period of the treatment, comparing the curative effect by the course of disease distribution in the two groups,P< 0.05,there were a significant difference, which indicated that the course of disease was shorter, the curative effects was much better.5.Follow-up results By subsequent visit or wechat follow-up the recovered patients after three months, there were 9 cases recovered, two cases recurred mildly in the treatment group. There were 4 cases recovered,1 case recurred in the control group, the rest of the patients were normal. Conclusion:? The two kinds of treatment methods both improved the hemifacial spasm patients' symptom who belonged to the syndrome of the exterior wind-cold and the wind formation from yin deficiency.Comparing with the conventional acupuncture method the facial shallow acupuncture and contralateral collateral alternate needling with scalp acupuncture was superior, the change of symptoms and signs appeared earlier and sooner, the period of the treatment was shorter, the recurrence rate was lower;2.The two kinds of treatment methods both relived the primary hemifacial spasm strength and frequency. The facial shallow acupuncture and contralateral collateral alternate needling with scalp acupuncture was superior to the conventional acupuncture method, and the change appeared earlier in treatment group in reducing convulsion intensity and frequency drops;3.The facial shallow acupuncture and contralateral collateral alternate needling with scalp acupuncture was much more effective than the conventional acupuncture method, and the course of the disease was shorter, the curative effects was much more effective, which was worth spreading and using.
