Objective: To investigate the relationship between 24 h urinary sodium excretion and blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. Methods:Selecting 195 adults with essential hypertension, and sodium intake was evaluated by 24 h urinary sodium excretion. The selected patients were divided into low urinary sodium group(n=47),intermediate urinary sodium group(n=84),and high urinary sodium group(n=64).The office blood pressure and the 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure level was measured.The24-hour ambulatory blood pressure levels included 24-hour mean systolicblood pressure,24-hour mean diastolic blood pressure, mean daytime systolic blood pressure, mean daytime diastolic blood pressure, mean nighttime systolic blood pressure and mean nighttime diastolic blood pressure. We analyzed the correlation between24 h urinary sodium excretion and blood pressure. Results: The difference of 24 hDBP,dDBP,nDBP and office DBP in the three groups was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The 24-hour urinary sodium excretion was the influencing factors of 24 hSBP,24hDBP,dSBP,dDBP,nSBP and nDBP.At the same time, the effect of BMI on 24 hSBP,dSBP and nSBP was statistically significant. The 24-hour urinary potassium excretion was inversely related to 24 hSBP,dSBP and nSBP.Age is inversely related to 24 hDBP,dDBP,and nDBP.(P<0.05).Conclusion:There is a positive correlation between 24-hour urinary sodium excretion and blood pressure level in patients with hypertension.Controlling 24-hour urinary sodium excretion in patients with hypertension has important clinical significance in controlling blood pressure level.
