Objective:To investigate the correlation between the polymorphism of-572C/G site and-174G/C site in the promoter region of interleukin-6 gene(IL-6)and the primary hypertension in the aged of Han nationality and Uyghur nationality in Xinjiang from the genetic point of view. Methods:A total of 191 elderly patients with primary hypertension in the People’s Hospital of Xinjiang Autonomous Region from September 2015 to December 2015 were selected as the case group,95 cases were Han patients and 96 cases were Uyghur patients, with an average age of(67.23±6.47 years).135 non-hypertensive patients undergoing routine physical examination at the physical examination center of this hospital in the same period were selected as the control group,81 cases were Han patients and 54 cases were Uyghur patients, with an average age of(66.90±6.81 years).Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP)was used to detect the genotype of research subjects. Results:The difference in the basic characteristics and biochemical indicators of the two groups of the research objects were not statistically significant(p>0.05);the distribution of IL-6-174G/C site genotype and allele frequencies between the case group and the control group were not statistically different(P>0.05).There was also no difference in the distribution of Uyghur and Han nationality;there was no difference in the distribution of IL-6-572C/G site genotype between case group and control group(P>0.05).The distribution of alleles in the Han groups was different, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),but,no differences in Uyghur groups(P>0.05).The differences in the polymorphisms of IL-6-174G/C site and-572C/G site as well as the blood pressure levels and the course of hypertension in the persons of Uyghur nationality and Han nationality were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Two Logistic regression analysis showed that age,triglyceride,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol as well as cholesterol were effective influencing factors for the onset of the hypertension in Han nationality(P=0.04,OR=1.086;P=0.038,OR=1.086;P=0.049,OR=11,354;P=0.016,OR=11.425;P=0.009,OR=0.071),and no effective related factors of hypertension were found in the case group of Uyghur nationality(P>0.05).Conclusion:The IL-174G/C site was predominantly GG type, with no national differences in distribution, and probably it has nothing to do with the susceptibility to hypertension.Triglycerides,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol lipids as well as low-density lipoprotein cholesterol lipids may be risk factors for the onset of hypertension in Han people, and the G allele of cholesterol and IL-572C/G site was the protection factors for the Han population, but they possibly did not have synergies.
