Objective:To explore the clinical effect of Extraosseous talotarsal stabilization in the treatment of flexible flatfoot in adolescents. Methods:A retrospective analysis of from june 2016 to december 2016 the period in the Department of orthopeadics,The Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University,12 adolescent patients with flexible flatfoot accepted Extraosseous talotarsal stabilization and a two-year follow-up study was carried out.During preoperation, postoperation and outpatients review, all patients were taken foot anteroposterior and lateral films. We measure and analys the meary angle and calcaneus pitch angle in lateral views, and talo-first metatarsal angles in anteroposterior views. At the same time,we use the AOFAS score to evaluation and analysis of the situation for preoperative and postoperative. Results:All patients were followed up effectively. The last follow-up time was two years after operation. All the incisions healed in the first stage,no recent complications such as infection and local important vascular and nerve injury occurred, and no long-term complications such as prolapse of the stabilizer occurred during the follow-up period. One patient developed pain at the tarsal sinus of the left foot 2 months after operation, and was given brake removal half a year after the failure of conservative treatment. In anteroposterior views, the talo-first metatarsal angles reduced from preoperative(12.6±4.5)° to postoperative(5.0±1.7)°(P<0.05).In lateral views, the meary angles reduced from preoperative(14.5±6.1)°to postoperative(3.7±1.1)°(P<0.05),the calcaneus pitch angles increased from preoperative(10.3±3.5)° to postoperative(19.0±4.0)°(P<0.05).AOFAS ankle-hind foot scoring system was used to evaluate the foot function before and after operation. The score increased from 64.8+7.3 before operation to 91.1+4.8 after operation,(P<0.05).Conclusion:Extraosseous talotarsal stabilization is effective in the treatment of flexible flatfoot in adolescents. It has the advantages of simple operation, less trauma, fewer complications and good compatibility. It is worth popularizing and developing in clinic, but the indications should be strictly grasped and the long-term curative effect and complications should be further studied and improved.
