Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of talotarsal stabilization device in the treatment of children's pes planovalgus with spastic cerebral palsy by comparing the preoperative with postoperative image correction and foot function score. Methods: From July,2013 to October,2016,ten spastic cerebral palsy children with pes planovalgus(18 feet)received talotarsal stabilization device in the People's Hospital of Hunan Province.Radiological evaluation and Maryland foot function score were measured before ?3months and 12 months after operation, respectively.Radiological evaluation included :On the weight-beraring dosopantar view X-ray :Talus-calcaneus Angle,Talus-longitudinal axes of the first metatarsals Angle and Talonavicular coverage Angle. On the lateral view X-ray: Talus-calcaneus Angle,Talus-longitudinal axes of the first metatarsals Angle and Calcaneal pitch Angle. Results: 1.Only 1 patient had tarsal sinus pain, and the pain finally disappeared after the removal of the internal fixation.while other patients had no pain.2.Radiological evaluation were measured before and 12 months after the surgery,In anteroposterior(AP),Talus-longitudinal axes of the first metatarsals reduced from preoperative 34.89±3.40 to postoperative 28.89±2.79(P < 0.05),Talus-calcaneus Angl educed from preoperative36.37±4.18°to postoperative 30.16±2.93(P < 0.05),Talonavicular coverage angle educed from preoperative 35.47±4.44 to postoperative 29.58±2.78(P < 0.05).in lateral radiographs,Talus-longitudinal axes of the first metatarsals reduced from preoperative 34.26±4.65 to postoperative 27.11±4.32(P < 0.05),Talus-calcaneus Angl educed from preoperative 37.74±4.05 to postoperative 30.74±3.33(P < 0.05),Calcaneal pitch Angle increased from preoperative 7.74±2.02 to postoperative 13.11±1.52(P < 0.05).3.Maryland foot scores were measured before and 12 months after the surgery,The point increased from preoperative 58.32 ± 6.80 to postoperative 86.35 ± 5.72(P < 0.05).Conclusion: talotarsal stabilization device in the treatment of children's pes planovalgus with spastic cerebral palsy is an effective treatment method.
