Objective:To explore the pathogenesis of hemifacial spasm,to provide evidence basis for the treatment of hemifacial spasm based on the theory of Yin deficiency pneumatic, and to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Xifeng Zhijing Recipe in the treatment of hemifacial spasm, which can provide methods and thinking for clinical diagnosis and treatment.Method:By reviewing ancient and modern literatures of hemifacial spasm and according to the experience of my tutor's multi-year diagnosis and treatment of hemifacial spasm,we formulate Xifeng Zhijing Recipe through the method of nourishing yin, calming the endopathic wind, eliminating phlegm and arresting convulsions. In accordance with the fundamental principles of clinical trial design,64 casess of hemifacial spasm were randomly divided into treatment group(32 cases)and control group(32 cases). The treatment group was treated with Xifeng Zhijing Recipe, and the control group was treated with carbamazepine. Both groups were treated for 2 months. The relevant indicators were observed pretherapy,1 month after treatment, and 2 months after treatment. The clinical efficacy of Xifeng Zhijing Recipe was evaluated by comparing the frequency and degree of hemifacial spasm pretherapy and after treatment and calculating the integral improvement rate.Result:Frequency of hemifacial spasm:The frequency of both groups was decreased significantly,1 month after treatment compared with pretherapy:p<0.05;2 months after treatment compared with pretherapy:p<0.01;2 months after treatment compared with 1 month after treatment, the treatment group:p<0.01,the control group:p>0.05.Comparison among groups,1 month after treatment:p>0.05;2 months after treatment:p<0.05,the treatment group was better than control group.Degree of hemifacial spasm:The degree of both groups was reduced,1 month after treatment compared with pretherapy:p>0.05;2 months after treatment compared with pretherapy:p<0.05;2 months after treatment compared with 1 month after treatment:p>0.05.Comparison among groups,1 month after treatment and 2 months after treatment:p>0.05.Symptom score of hemifacial spasm:The symptom score of both groups was significantly cutted down,1 month after treatment compared with pretherapy:p<0.01;2 months after treatment compared with pretherapy:p<0.01;2 months after treatment compared with 1 month after treatment:p<0.01.Comparison among groups,1 month after treatment and 2 months after treatment:p>0.05.Evaluation of Overall efficacy:In the 30 cases of treatment group,3 cases were cured(10.00%),7 cases were markedly effective(23.33%),13 cases were effective(43.33%),7 cases were invalid(23.33%),and the total effective rate was 76.67%.In the 30 cases of control group,2 cases were cured(6.67%),1 cases was markedly effective(3.33%),18 cases were effective(60.00%),9 cases were invalid(30.00%),and the total effective rate was 70.00%.There was statistical difference in marked efficiency between the treatment group and control group(p<0.05).
