Objective To further explore the diagnosis and treatment of neck foreign body and its prognosis,deepen the understanding of the neck foreign body and the corresponding complications.Discussing the most appropriate treatment to improve the diagnosis and treatment of the disease,improve the prognosis and reduce complications.Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 25 cases of neck foreign bodies treated by the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University.There were 22 cases of surgical treatment,including cervical exploration and foreign body removal through the lateral cervical approach and removal of foreign bodies in deep cervical exploration through intraoral approach,esophagoscopy or support laryngoscopy and foreign body removal,esophagoscopy or supporting laryngoscopy combined with lateral cervical approach and foreign body removal;8 cases(36.36%)of lateral cervical approach;4 cases(18.18%)of intraoral approach;6 cases(27.28%)of transesophageal or supporting laryngoscope;4 cases(18.18%)of esophagoscope or supporting laryngoscope combined with lateral cervical approach.Conservative treatment of patients in 3 cases.Patients in the foreign body removal group were not followed up after discharge,and discharge symptoms were the evaluation criteria.Outpatient visits and telephone follow-ups were conducted for those who had not been removed.The longest follow-up period was 3 years after discharge and the shortest period was 2 months.Result 15 cases of foreign body were removed successfully,and the properties of foreign body were 6 cases(40%)of fishbone,5 cases(33.34%)of metal foreign body,2 cases(13.33%)of wooden objects,and 2 cases(13.33%)of other animal bones.After successful removal of foreign body,the patient recovered well and no postoperative complications occurred.7 cases which failed to remove foreign bodies,2 of them suffered from cervical abscess,they were treated with anti-infection and symptomatic treatment,postoperative recovery was satisfactory and they were discharged from the hospital successfully.In 3 cases,one of the patients was accompanied with abscess and still refused to undergo surgery after fully understanding the risk,the corresponding anti-infection and symptomatic treatment were followed up.Outpatient service and telephone follow-up were performed on 10 patients whose foreign bodies had not been removed.The time of follow-up was two months to three years after discharge.Three patients were still felt uncomfortable and the rest patients had no discomfort symptom of primary symptoms and accompanying symptoms.Conclusion The presence of foreign body in the neck can cause different physiological and pathological changes due to direct damage or indirect damage such as infection and swelling of foreign body,and even cause serious complications.The foreign body in the neck is more common in the young and the old,and there are various types of foreign bodies,more common with fishbone.The neck foreign body was removed and the neck foreign body complicated with neck abscess was treated by incision and drainage and anti-infection treatment.
