ObjectiveTo investigate the stigma status of patients with thyroid cancer after surgery,to explore the association between the stigma, quality of life, social support and big five personality inventory,to analyze the influencing factors of patients'stigma, and to formulate targeted intervention strategies to reduce the stigma of patients with thyroid cancer after operation.MethodsThe self-designed general information questionnaire,Social Impact Scale,European Organization for Research and Treatment Cancer Quality of Life Department-C30(EORTC QLQ-C30),Social Support Questionnaire and International Personality Item Pool Neuroticism Extraversion Openness 120 were used to investigate 93 patients with thyroid cancer after surgery.ResultsThe Social Impact Scale score range of 93 patients with thyroid cancer after surgery was 33~69,and the median and quartile of scores were 50(46,54);the standardized total score range of EORTC QLQ-C30 was 318~903,and the median and quartile of scores were 605(554,655);the score range of Social Support Questionnaire was17~60,and the median and quartile of scores were 43(36,49).The total score of Social Impact Scale was not related with the standardized total score of EORTC QLQ-C30(r=0.160,P>0.05),but were related with the five functional domains, overall health status, two symptoms(fatigue and pain)and three single items(tachypnea, insomnia and economic difficulty)(P<0.05).There was a significant positive correlation between the total score of Social Impact Scale and the total score of Social Support Scale(r=0.276,P<0.01);in addition, the total score of Social Impact Scale were significantly correlated with the subjective support and the utilization of the support(P<0.01).The score of social impact scale was correlated with"N1 anxiety","N2 hostility","N3 depression"and"N6 vulnerability"in the"N neurotic"dimension of the big five personality scale(P<0.05).There was a correlation between"E1 friendly"and"E6 positive emotion"in the"extroverted"dimension(P<0.05);In the"O open"dimension,"O4 adventure"and"O5 reason"were correlated(P<0.05).The total score of the social impact scale of 93 patients with thyroid cancer was used as the dependent variable. The score of EORTC QLQ-C30,Social Support Scale and International Personality Item Pool Neuroticism Extraversion Openness 120 were used as the independent variables. We used the multiple linear regression analysis to find out the influencing factors. Finally, the four variables of physical function, overall health status, subjective support and emotional function entered the regression model. The ANOVA was used to test the overall fitting effect of the regression model, and the results showed that F=14.411,df=4,P<0.001,R~2=0.368.These results showed that the goodness of the model was ideal, and the selected independent variable could effectively explain the variation of events indicated by the dependent variable.ConclusionThe stigma level of patients with thyroid cancer after surgery was moderate;there are certain correlations between the stigma, quality of life and social support. The physical function, overall health status, subjective support and emotional function are the influencing factors of patients'stigma status. The medical staff and social organization should pay more attention to the stigma of patients with thyroid cancer after surgery, know the influence factors of patients'stigma status, carry out more researches and give corresponding nursing measures to reduce the stigma level and improve the patients'cognitive status and their quality of life.
