Objective: To investigate the composition of the urinary calculi of residents in Wuhan,in order to provide targeted preventive measures. Methods: Retrospectively analyzed the infrared spectroscopy analysis results of 1605 urinary calculi samples from 1552 cases who were suffering from urinary calculi from January 2014 to February 2016 in Wuhan. Results: Among the 1552 cases, the ratio of male to female was 2.43: 1,and the ages ranged from 17 years old to 87 years old, with a mean age of 53.1 years old.Among the 1605 urinary calculi samples, the upper urinary tract stones was 1435(89.4%).The compositions of 1605 urinary calculi samples were as follows: calcium oxalate monohydrate(COM)1455 cases(90.7%),calcium oxalate dehydrate(COD)957 cases(59.6%),carbonate apatite(CA)957 cases(59.6%),uric acid(UA)166 cases(10.3%),magnesium ammonium phosphate(MAP)71 cases(4.42%),calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate(CHPD)5 cases(0.311%),ammonium urate(AU)5 cases(0.311%),L-cystine(CYS)5 cases(0.311%).1247 samples were mixed stones(77.7%),mainly mixed with carbonate apatite, calcium oxalate monohydrate and calcium oxalate dihydrate(678 cases,54.4%).Conclusion: The urinary calculi of residents in Wuhan were mostly mixed stones, with a common composition of calcium oxalate monohydrate.Measures of prevention and treatment should be taken pointedly to reduce the risk of incidence and recurrence of the urinary calculi. There is a significant meaning of infrared spectroscopic analysis for the treatment and prevention of urinary calculi.
