Objective: This paper aims to analyze the characteristics of urinary calculi patients and the chemical composition of urinary calculi in Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital, and to discuss the composition characteristics and epidemiological characteristics of urinary calculi in Qinghai region,so as to provide scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of urinary calculi in this region. Methods: A literature review was made on the data of 195 cases of patients with urinary calculi admitted into In-patient Department of Urinary Surgery in Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital from March 2015 to October 2016,including 162 cases of calculi of upper urinary tracts and 33 cases of calculi of lower urinary tracts. The urinary calculi specimens were harvested through methods of open surgery, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, transureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy, transureteroscopic pneumatic lithotripsy, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, lithotriptoscopy and medical expulsive therapy. After cleaning and drying, the chemical composition of the specimens was analyzed by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. Results: There were 195 cases of urinary calculi, including 129 males and 66 females,i.e.a ratio of male to female in 1.95: 1;the average age was(47.6±11.65)years old,in which the proportion of 40-59 years old patients was the highest. These urinary calculi specimens had 12 types according to chemical compositions, most types were mixed calculi. In these 12 types,5 types were simple calculi in form of different chemical compounds distrusted in 51 cases, and 7 types were mixed calculi in form of different chemical mixtures distrusted in 144 cases. Conclusions: 1.The average age of inpatients with urinary calculi in Qinghai is(47.6 ±11.65)years old,and the proportion of 40-59 years old patients is the highest, with a ratio of male to female in 1.95: 1.2.The urinary calculi in Qinghai region are mainly composed of mixed calculi, accounting for 73.85%.The simple calculi are mainly composed of calcium oxalate monohydrate calculi(COM).The mixed calculi are mainly composed of a mixture formed by calcium oxalate monohydrate(COM),calcium oxalate dehydrate(COD)plus carbonate apatite(CAP)and a mixture formed by calcium oxalate monohydrate(COM)plus calcium oxalate dehydrate(COD).3.Calcium oxalate is the main component of urinary calculi in Qinghai, the proportion of calcium oxalate calculi in Qinghai area is higher than that in most domestic literatures.
