ObjectiveThe study is to explore the effect of the spirit-regulating acupuncture in IBS,and compare with only conventional acupuncture treatment by the main symptom scores and the IBS-QOL rating scale,in order to make clear whether it has obvious curative effect and to find one kind of therapeutic regimen which is more effective. So we can not only improve the mental state of patients, but also relieve the symptoms significantly, like diarrhea or bellyache, which is of great importance in enhancing the life quality of IBS patients.MethodFrom March 2017 to January 2018,60 patients with IBS-D(Hepatic Stasis Spleen Deficiency Syndrome)who were up to inclusion criteria were selected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM.Patients were randomly assigned into experiment groups(spirit-regulating acupuncture combined conventional acupuncture treatment group)and control group(only conventional acupuncture treatment group),30 cases in each group. The control group only accept the conventional acupuncture points: Tianshu(ST 25),Shangjuxu(ST 37),Zusanli(ST 36),Sanyinjiao(SP 6),Qimen(LR 14),Taichong(LR 3),and the experiment group accept the spirit-regulating acupuncture points in addition: Si Shen Zhen,Zhi San Zhen[Shenting(GV 24),Benshen(GB 13)],Yintang(GV 29),Shenmen(HT 7),Sanyinjiao(SP 6).Both groups were treated three times every other day in one week, six times for a period of treatment. Each one was treated two consecutive courses, with two or three days for rest between the courses. Two groups were respectively given a mark on “the main symptom scores of IBS” and “the IBS-QOL rating scale” before and after the treatment, and using the statistical software of SPSS22.0 for data analysis and comparison,in order to evaluate the effect of the spirit-regulating acupuncture in IBS-D.ResultsThere were no statistically significant discrepancy in the general information of the patients, such as the gender, age, course of disease(P>0.05),revealing the comparability of the two groups.Besides,no statistically significant differences still showed in the pre-treatment evaluation parameters of the patients, including the main symptom scores and the IBS-QOL rating scale(P>0.05),which displayed the two groups were comparable. After treatment,it showed that the main symptom scores and the IBS-QOL rating scale compared to the pre-treatment results(P<0.05),were obviously improved in both groups, revealing the significant differences. In terms of the comparison of the overall effectiveness, the total effective rate was 96.67% in experiment group and 83.33% in control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Both the improvement of the main symptom and life quality of patients with IBS,significant differences were confirmed between the two groups, and the experiment group was superior to the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions1.Both spirit-regulating acupuncture combined conventional acupuncture treatment and only conventional acupuncture are effective to patients with irritable bowel syndrome.2.Both the overall effectiveness and the improvement of the main symptom and life quality, significant differences were confirmed between the two groups, and experiment group was superior to control group(P<0.05).
