Objective: To understand the detection rate of carotid intima-media thickning and carotid plaque in healthy check-up population. To discuss the related risk factors of carotid-intima-media thickness and provide a theoretical basis for primary prevention of atherosclerosis. Methods: This study used a retrospective method, and select the personnel who participated in the meical checkup from January 2017 to July 2017 in the Health Management Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University as subject.Finally,2286 medical checkups were enrolled into this study.According to the carotid ultrasound results, they were divided into normal carotid artery intima-media thickness(CIMT)group(970 cases)?carotid intima-media thickness(CIMT)thickening group(523 cases)and carotid plaque group(793 cases).Height, weight, blood pressure, blood cell analysis, fasting blood glucose, blood cholesterol, total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),uric acid were measured at the same time.One-way ANOVA was used to compare the differences among variables in each group at first. Then statistically significant variables were included into the Logistic regression equation. And we obtain independent risk factors for CIMT thickening and carotid artery plaque.(p <0.05).Results: Of the 2286 health checkups,970(42.4%)were in the CIMT normal group,523(22.9%)in the CIMT thickening group, and 793(34.7%)in the carotid plaque group. There were significant differences in age, sex, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, body mass index, heart rate, fasting blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, uric acid, total cholesterol,triglyceride,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and platelet count between these three groups(P<0.01).There was no significant difference in high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, platelet distribution width, and mean platelet volume between these three groups(P>0.05).Multi-classified Logistic regression analysis showed that ageing(40-60,60-80 years old)and HbA1 c were independent risk factors in CIMT thickening group, with OR values were 4.41,8.57,and 1.53,respectively.Aging(40-60,60-80 years old),sex(male),HbA1 c,LDL-C,UA were independent risk factors of carotid plaque group. The OR values were 8.22,45.85,1.74,1.79,3.02,and 1.33,respectively.Conclusions: Carotid intima-media thickness and carotid plaque formation in the healthy checkups are the result of multiple risk factors.Ageing,HbA1 c is closely related to CIMT thickening and plaque formation;Male,LDL-C and UA are closely related to carotid plaque formation.
