Objective:The objective of this study was to assess the restorations made by CEREC CAD/CAM and patients' features, and to discuss the reasons for the failure of the restorations. These would provide a basis for the promotion and improvement of the CEREC chair-side repair technology.Material and methods:Collected and analyze the age, gender, tooth position, pulp vitality, failure performance, and satisfaction situation of the patients who accepted CEREC restorations from May 2015 to February 2018 in the department of Endodontics of Stomatological Hospital of Jilin University. All CEREC restorations were designed by CEREC AC,and were fabricated with CEREC Blocs and CEREC 3 milling and grinding unit, and bonded with dual-cure resin cement. The patients were followed up regularly.Results:1.A total of 282 CEREC all-ceramic restorations of 270 patients.A total of 129 patients were male(47.8%),and 141 patients were female(52.2%).The gender ratio of male/female was 1:1.09.Among all the patients, the oldest was 71 years old,and the youngest patient was 15 years old.The average age was 43.3 years old.The group of the 40~50 years old had the highest number of 68 patients, followed by the 30~40 years old group with 54 patients. The 50~60 years old group and the 20~ 30 years old group and the 60~70 years old group had 51,45,and 38 patients respectively. The least of seven groups were 10 ~ 20 and 70 ~80 years old group with 12 patients and 2 patients respectively.2.The 282 teeth were grouped by the tooth position into the first premolar group, the second premolar group, the first molar group, the second molar group and the third molar group. There were a total of 42 first premolars,51 second premolars,113 first molars,74 second molars, and 2 third molars.3.The 282 teeth were grouped into vital pulp group and pulpless group according to the pulp vitality. There were 234 pulpless teeth accounting for 83%,and 48 vital teeth accounting for 17%.4.The total patients' satisfaction of the 270 patients with CEREC restorations was 94%.5.There were 4 failure cases among the 282 CEREC restorations cases, and the retention rate was 98.6%.Conclusions:1.There were more women than men among patients who accepted CEREC chairside prosthodontic treatment. The patients' most common age was between 40 and 50 years old.The most of the teeth pulp vitality were pulpless.2.The CEREC AC system is easy and convenient to operate. The restorations fabricated by CEREC Blocs and CEREC 3 cutting unit have stable and reliable performance.3.The degree of patients' satisfaction with CEREC restorations was high.4.The restorations fabricated by CEREC chairside system had good clinical performance and high short-term retention rate. The longer-term performance needs further observation.
