Objective: The 3D facial image data of Han and Uygur youths aged 18-25 in Kashi,Xinjiang,were collected,and the distance parameters were measured.This research supplementing Chinese Han and Uygur facial 3D database,and comparing the differences of facial soft tissue between Han and Uygur ethnic groups.It lays foundation for this kind of research in the future.Method: Samples of Han and Uygur ethnic groups were selected randomly in Kashi,Xinjiang.Objects after oral physical examination,which meet research conditions,using 3DCaMega facial 3D scanner to obtain three-dimensional original image of samples.Geomagic Studio software is used to reconstruct,fix,verify repeatability of the measured values and measure plane and surface distance between each mark points.The t-test of two independent samples was carried out by SPSS24.0 on Uygur and Han nationalties and the different genders of same nationality..Results: The range of reference values for facial measurements of the 18-25 years old Han and Uygur youths in Kashi,Xinjiang,were obtained,and contrasted data between different ethnic and gender facial measurement indicators.The results showed that nasal length and nasal width of Uygur and Han men,forehead height and nose length of Uygur and Han women were compared by three dimensional measurement,their two-dimensional measurement values did not find statistical difference among different nationalities,while the three dimensional measurements were statistically significant(P<0.05).When compared with the index of forehead height and nasal length between Han and Uygur nationality,three dimensional measurements showed significant statistical difference between sexes(P<0.05),while two-dimensional measurement had no statistical significance.Conclusion: There are differences in face of Han and Uygur youths in Kashi area of Xinjiang,especially in geometric structure of soft tissue with complex facial features.Themethod of three-dimensional facial scan and measurement is more accurate and convenient in reflecting difference of complex structure of face.It is a valuable and reliable tool for anthropometry,and it has a milestone in the development of many subjects in future.
