ObjectiveTo observe the clinical efficacy of Body-acupuncture and Auricular Pressure combined with Peitu Qingxin Fang in the treatment of atopic dermatitis, and to evaluate the antipruritic and sleep-inducing effects of the Acupuncture and Medicine Therapy,so as to provide basis for its clinical popularization.MethodsSelecting patients with atopic dermatitis in Department of Dermatology,Guangdong Provincial Hospital of traditional Chinese Medicine from December 2016 to March 2018.Sixty patients diagnosed with atopic dermatitis were randomly assigned into three groups-one experimental group and two control groups(Group 1,Group 2).The experimental group was received both acupuncture at auricular point and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM);control group 1 received only the TCM,while control group 2 received the combination of Chinese and Western medicine. The course of treatment was 4 weeks. Before and after treatment, the patient's EASI score, pruritus VAS,sleep VAS,and the Dermatology Life Quality Index were recorded. The data were analyzed to arrive at a conclusion.Results1.EASI scoreThe difference between the experimental group's EASI scores before and after the treatment was statistically significant(P=0.011<0.05).For both control group 1 and control group 2,the EASI scores before and after showed no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).Cross-group comparison of the three groups' s EASI scores after the treatment indicated a statistically significant difference(P=0.045<0.05).The result indicated that the experimental-group treatment was more effective compared with the control-group treatment in alleviateing skin lesions.2.Pruritus VASDifference between the experimental group's pruritus VAS scores before and after the 4-week treatment was statistically significant(P=0.016<0.05).For both control group 1 and control group 2,the pruritus VAS scores before and after the treatment indicated no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).Cross-group comparison of the three groups' s pruritus VAS scores after the treatment revealed no significant difference(P>0.05).The result indicated that the experimental-group treatment was more effective compared with the control-group treatment in alleviateing pruritus.Yet the difference was not significant.3.Sleep VASDifference between the experimental group's sleep VAS scores before and after the 4-week treatment was statistically significant(P=0.041<0.05).For both control group 1 and control group 2,the sleep VAS scores before and after the treatment indicated no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).Cross-group comparison of the three groups' s sleep VAS scores after the treatment revealed no significant difference(P=0.172>0.05).The result indicated that the experimental-group treatment was effective in alleviateing pruritus.Yet the difference in results between the experimental group and the compare groups was not significant.4.Skin quality of life scoreThe changes in DLQI index of the three groups before and after the treatment have no statistical significant(P>0.05),indicating that all three groups had no significant effect of improving the patients' life quality. The DLQI Index was positively correlated with the EASI,the pruritus VAS scores, and sleep VAS scores, indicating that improvement in skin lesion, pruritus, and sleep could improve the patients' life quality. However, the quality of life was also affected by other factors.5.Total efficacyThe total effective rates of the three groups were compared.Z=0.0082,P<0.05.The difference was statistically significant, indicating that the experimental group had better efficacy than the treatment group.Conclusion1.In comparison to the TCM treatment and the Chinese-Western-Medicine Combination Treatment, the Body-acupuncture and Auricular Pressure combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment can significantly improve the efficacy of the treatment of atopic dermatitis.2.The Body-acupuncture and Auricular Pressure combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment can improve the severity of skin lesions, pruritus and sleep conditions.3.The Body-acupuncture and Auricular Pressure combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment has little effect of improving the life quality.
