Background Colorectal polyps are bulging lesions occurring on the surface of the colorectal mucosa and protruding into the lumen. With nonspecific clinical manifestation, most of which are identified by colonoscopy. The occurrence of colorectal polyps is mainly related to factors, including the environment, diet, lifestyle, and virus infection.Colorectal polyps are classified into three types: hyperplastic, inflammatory, and adenomatous polyps.Amongcolorectal polyps, hyperplastic and inflammatory polyps are called non-neoplastic polyps with little malignant potential, while adenomatous polyps exhibit great malignant potential. The gradual carcinogenesis of colorectal polyps is generally up to 5-15 years from normal intestinal mucosa to over hyperplasia to adenomas and eventually becoming cancerous.Early detection and prompt removal of polyps are of great significance for improving the quality of life and prognosis of patients.Studies at home and abroad have found that blood lipid levels are closely related to the occurrence of colorectal polyps.Current studies also report that uric acid is associated with the occurrence. Objective To investigate the correlation between UA,TG,TC,LDL-C,HDL-C and the occurrence of colorectal polyps, and discuss the risk factors and protective factors for colorectal polyps. Methods The levels of TC,TG,LDL-C,HDL-C,UA and fasting blood glucose were determined in 182 patients with colorectal polyps(experimental group including non-adenomatous and adenomatous groups)and 116 patients with non-colorectal polyps(control group),and the BMI was calculated. The differences in UA,blood lipid, age, gender,BMI and blood glucose between the patient and control groups were compared using one-way ANOVA and independent-samples t test, and the risk factors for colorectal polyps were analyzed using noncondition-Logistic analysis.Besides, the correlation between UA,TG,TC,HDL-C,and LDL-C was analyzed using Pearson analysis. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS21.0 software with P<0.05 as statistically significant. Results The differences in indicators including UA,TG,and HDL-C levels were statistically significant among the control,non-adenomatous and adenomatous groups(P<0.05).UA(OR=1.002),TG(OR=1.299),age(OR=1.029),and BMI(OR=1.144)were risk factors for colorectal polyps(P<0.05),while female(OR=0.494)and HDL-C(OR=0.465)were protective factors(P<0.05).On the other hand, the level of UA in patients was positively correlated with the levels of TG,TC,and LDL-C.Besides,r values were 0.36,0.175 and 0.126 respectively, which were statistically significant(P<0.05).The level of UA was negatively correlated with that of HDL-C,and the r value was-0.078(P<0.05).Conclusion Increased levels of UA,TG,and BMI,advanced age,and male are risk factors, while increased HDL-C level and female are protective factors for the occurrence of colorectal polyps.Hematological abnormalities may facilitate the identification of patients with high risk of colorectal polyps and prompt intervention and treatment, thereby ultimately improving the prognosis of patients and their quality of life.
