A Preliminary Study On The Exculisive Acupuncture Diagnostic Methods In The Republic Of China

During the Republican period,the traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine were under dispute around several issues,such as classic theories of TCM,traditional methods of diagnosis,characteristic treatments of acupuncture and moxibustion.Many traditional diagnosis methods were questioned to be unscientific by most people because of diagnostics,anatomy,physiology and pathology of western medicine coming into China.At the same time,acupuncture and moxibustion were also greatly affected by the entry of western medicine.After recognizing the importance of diagnostic methods in theoretical education and clinical practice of acupuncture,some acupuncturists started to do further research of the classics and suggested to follow ancient methods.Some introduced the innovative diagnostic methods of western medicine,which resulted in many exculisive acupuncture diagnostic methods.This research is to collect and classify the books and journal articles about diagnosis methods of acupuncture during the period of the Republic by referring to the literature on"acupuncture and moxibustion diagnosis methods" in related fields.Afterwards,we summarized exculisive acupuncture diagnostic methods and investigated the manipulation methods of diagnosis.In this way,it aims to find out the "acupuncture and moxibustion diagnosis methods"with practical value,so as to provide help for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of acupuncture and moxibustion,and inspire the research and innovation of the exculisive acupuncture diagnostic methods.The research is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduces the background of the dispute of the traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine in the Republican period.Through the comments of different acupuncturists and researchers,we can find the situation of the eastern and western diagnostic methods in China were very difficult.The second chapter is a review of "acupuncture and moxibustion diagnosis methods" in the Republic of China.Firstly,we arrange the work of relevant conceptual terms in acupuncture and moxibustion to summarize and define the "acupuncture and moxibustion diagnosis methods" Then it analyzes the different attitudes of the acupuncturists in the treatment of different methods of diagnosis in Chinese and western medicine,which can be divided into three categories:"worshiping the old methods of diagnosis","advocating the new methods of diagnosis" and "combining the eastern and western medicine".Because of this,the books involving acupuncture and moxibustion diagnostic methods also generally show the two views of "advocating traditional methods" and "combining the Eastern and western medicine".We can conclude that diagnostic methods advocated by the acupuncturists of the Republic of China include not only the traditional four diagnostic methods,but also various diagnostic methods such as "diagnosis of five tissues" "diagnosis of meridians and collaterals" "diagnosis of acupoints",etc.The third chapter systematically shows the diagnostic methods with acupuncture characteristics in Republic of China from domestic literature.This chapter summarizes and analyzes the typical acupuncture books,diagnosis books and comprehensive medical books about the specific "acupuncture and moxibustion diagnosis methods".In chapter four,we summarize "diagnosis of meridians and collaterals","diagnosis of acupoints","diagnosis of positive reacted points" and other specific "acupuncture and moxibustion diagnosis methods",which are involved in the Japanese acupuncture literatures,such as the diagnosis methods of abdominal diagnosis,"Haishi belt","Pingtian belt" and"Akabane test",etc.In the last chapter,we discuss the inheritance and innovation of acupuncture diagnostic methods during the period of the Republic of China,thus enriching the inspiration of acupuncture theory and clinical methods.It is believed that we should hold dialectical view of"acupuncture diagnostic methods" in the period of the Republic of China.And the clinical applicability and practicability of the diagnosis method are worth being applied to clinic of acupuncture and moxibustion.Finally,we put forward the next research direction including collecting the "acupuncture and moxibustion diagnosis methods" in ancient books,and tracing the origin of "acupuncture and moxibustion diagnosis methods " in the period of the Republic of China,and deducing the changing trajectory of "acupuncture and moxibustion diagnosis methods".
