Content And Effect Of Chinese Translations Of Japanese Acupuncture Literature During The Republican Period

Acupuncture books during the Republican times were more and more paid attention by scholars in recent years,of which Chinese translations of Japanese acupuncture books are important.Now there is few studies on them systematically,so I am going to do with them.The purpose of this paper is to collect the Chinese translations of Japanese acupuncture books and to expose its impact on Chinese acupuncture in modern times.I collected 14 Chinese acupuncture books translated from Japan during the Republican times and discussed their contents,in respects of acupuncture mechanism research,primary theory and clinical treatment.In general,these books interpreted the mechanism of acupuncture based on the western medicine with nervous physiology,hematology and immunology.The discussion mainly focused on acupoints theory but few on meridian theory.Meanwhile,some books introduced some western medicine diagnosis methods,some new skills of acupuncture,and discussed acupuncture clinical treatment under western medical disease name.This study shown that Chinese modern acupuncture was affected by the Chinese translation books of Japanese acupuncture during the republic of China.On theory,by quoting the Chinese translations of Japanese acupuncture medical books,They also interpreted the mechanism of acupuncture based on the western medicine with nervous physiology,hematology and immunology.The meridian theory was majorly linked with nervous physiology,and the acupoints theory was connected with western theory,like anatomy and the discussion of western diseases.Some cut down the number of acupoints and arranged its by the order of the parts.On clinical,some acupuncture needling methods were introduced.The understandings of needling methods have been changed.Reinforcing and reducing methods were depended on the strength of stimulus quantity and the acupuncture skills were ignored.On the other hand,some people discussed the acupuncture treatment by the western diseases and the western knowledge.People gradually paid attention to acupuncture disinfection and the same content in the Chinese translations of Japanese acupuncture medical books.On education,the mainly impact was that the Chinese translations of Japanese acupuncture medical books was quoted by the Chinese acupuncture teaching material frequently.In brief,the Chinese translations of Japanese acupuncture medical books had a great influence on Chinese acupuncture in modern times.
