Objectives:The aim of this study was to explore the characteristics of physical activity behaviors of the elderly in Baoding City,the utilization and satisfaction of public sports services,and the provision and satisfaction of related services in community medical and health institutions,explore the relevant factors and influences of physical activity behaviors of the elderly in the community,and develop strategies for promoting the physical activity of the elderly in the community from the views of the basic public services based on the conclusions drawn from the above.Methods:According to the status quo of physical activity for the elderly in the community in Baoding City,《 The Questionnaire for the Exercise Behavior of the Elderly in Baoding City》was compiled.A stratified-cluster sampling method was used to collect 519 elderly people in the Baoding City.SPSS 19.0 was used for data statistical analysis.Results:1.The participation rate of exercise for the elderly in the community is 77.9%,of which 36.6% are regular exercisers.2.Utilization of public sports plazas and public sports facilities occupied the top two positions in public sports service utilization level,accounting for 90.6% and 89.3%;The highest degree of satisfaction with the use of public sports services by the elderly is the area of public sports grounds,with a satisfaction rate of 92.7%;the lowest is fitness competition activity,and the satisfaction rate is 67.9%.3.In the provision of related services from community medical and health service institutions,inquiries and suggestions for physical activity were among the top two,accounting for 86.1% and 80.6%.The satisfaction rates of providing exercise information and physical activity related propaganda in community were 94.5% and 87.6%,respectively.4.The results of the multi-factor analysis showed that the participation of exercise for the elderly had related with the use of public sports facilities,satisfaction level with the public sports ground area,satisfaction level with the maintenance of public sports facilities,whether community doctor suggesting to exercise,satisfaction level of doctor’s providing related information,and satisfaction level of community exercise knowledge propaganda(P<0.05).The exercise frequency of the elderly had related with the satisfaction level of the public sports ground area,the satisfaction level of the sports instructor’s guidance,satisfaction level of sports competition activities,whether community doctor prescripting exercise prescriptions or exercise detail,whether community doctor suggesting exercise monitoring,and the satisfaction level of community exercise knowledge propaganda(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.The overall exercise level of the elderly in the community of Baoding City is at a middle level.The exercise movement choices of the elderly based on simple,low-tech projects.2.The utilization levels of public sports services for the elderly have big differences.The utilization level of sports instructor’ instructing,exercise knowledge lectures,and fitness competition activities are much lower than those of other dimensions.The elderly are less satisfied with public sports services.Satisfaction with different service items varies widely.3.There is less provision of sports-related health management in community medical and health service organizations;community seniors have relatively high satisfaction with the provision of related services by community health service agencies.4.The exercise behaviors of the elderly in the community are influenced by multiple factors from the public service.The construction of public service hardware and software should be strengthened.The quality of public services should be improved to effectively promote the exercise behavior of the elderly.
