Objective:Intervertebral disc degeneration is a chronic disease process caused by many factors. It is an early lesion of intervertebral disc protrusion, which changes the structure and function of the intervertebral disc, and develops into lumbar disc herniation[1][2].Low back pain?LBP?causes disability and life quality deterioration, constituting a tremendous social and economic burden[3].At date, lumbar disc degeneration pathological process has not yet completely clear, but in recent years more and more research report shows that the essence of intervertebral disc degeneration is the micro environment changed, resulting in around the nucleus pulposus cell microenvironment homeostasis, thus making the annulus fibrosus tearing, caused by protrusion of intervertebral disc[3].The purpose of this study is to study the microenvironmental changes caused by lactic acid, which leads to the correlation analysis of intervertebral disc herniation. Methods:This study has two groups, experimental group include 13 patients who underwent surgery following a diagnosis of protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc by the same group of surgeons from January 2016 to December 2017,which included 10 males and 3females with a mean age of 32.2 years old?ranged from 26 to 48 years?.The other group called control group include 7 patients who also underwent surgery except a diagnosis of intervertebral disc herniation, tumor, tuberculosis and sever injury, which included 2males and 5 females with a mean age of 34.4 years old?ranged from 28 to 40 years?.All patients had normal lung function. The t test was performed in two groups of patients to determine whether the disc herniation was associated with the concentration of blood lactate. Results:There was no significant difference in blood lactate level between the two groups before operation?P>0.05?,but there was a differences in lactate level between the end plates blood?P<0.05?.The effect of the concentration of blood lactic acid on the degeneration of the intervertebral disc is considered. Conclusion:The level of blood lactate in the end plate of the intervertebral disc is higher than that in the normal end plate. The blood lactate concentration in the endplate cartilage is correlated with the occurrence of intervertebral disc protrusion.
