Objectives:This research aims to investigate the prevalence of tinnitus in Jinan university students and to understand the earphone usage among Jinan university students;and the relationship between earphone use and tinnitus.Gaving Some reasonable suggestions for university students to use headphones.Methods:1.A questionnaire was designed to investigate the tinnitus and the using of earphones in physical examination students of Jinan University from November 6 to November 15,2017 with the method of convenience sampling.2.There were 37 cases selected from volunteers with tinnitus. Each patient received detailed medical history, filled in the tinnitus handicap inventory, electric otoscopy, pure tone audiometry, and acoustic immittance of tinnitus inspection.3.UsingTtest,chi-square test,Fisher's exact probabilityand Kruskal-Wallis H test,non-conditional Logistic regression analysis to statistically describe the tinnitus in respondents, the usage of earphones, the relationship between earphone using and tinnitus, and the relationship between earphone using and the order of severity of tinnitus.Results:1.A total of 1909 valid questionnaires were collected, including 831 boys and 1078 girls. There were 1889 using headphones,20 people did not using headphones.2.The prevalence of tinnitus in Jinan university students was 8.3%(159/1909).The prevalence rate of male tinnitus was 8.2%(68/831)and that of female tinnitus was8.4%(91/1078).There was no significant difference in the prevalence of tinnitus among different ages and genders(P=0.67,P=0.839).3.The earphone usage in Jinan university students was 99.0%(1889/1909).The percentage of those who continued to use earphones for more than 3 hours accounted for5.8%(110/1889).The volume of commonly used earphones is more than 60% of the maximum volume, accounting for 4.9%(93/1889).4.The volume of commonly used earphones(the largest volume of the cell, the duration of each use of earphones, the number of years used is linearly related to the occurrence of tinnitus(P<0.05),the type of earphone used(OR 1.22 95%CI 1.054-1.404),The volume of commonly used earphones(which account for the largest volume)(OR 1.53 95%CI 1.125-2.084)is a risk factor for tinnitus.5.The average daily use of earphones varies, and the severity of tinnitus varies(P=0.048).The severity of tinnitus was less than 1 hour per day(average rank 15.33),less than1 hour(average order 23.04)and more than 3 hours(average rank 23.25).Conclusion:1.The prevalence of tinnitus in Jinan university students was 8.3%,which was lower than that of the general population.2.earphones are widely used in Jinan university students. There is an unreasonable use of earphones.3.The volume of earphones(the highest volume),the duration of headset use,and the number of years spent using earphones are all correlated with the occurrence of tinnitus. The type of earphone used, the volume of commonly used earphones(the largest volume)is a risk factor for tinnitus.4.Headphones are recommended when using earphones. It is recommended to reduce the duration of headset use when using headphones. When using earphones,it is recommended to reduce the tone of earphones.Tinnitus patients are advised to use earphones for an average of less than 1 hour a day.
