Hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage(HICH)is a lingering cause of significant mortality and morbidity in contemporary society.The uncertainty continues whether there is a favorable treatment effect of surgical or medical management.This article focuses on the local anatomy characteristics of HICH,primary and second injury of intracerebral hematoma,and the updated pathophysiological progress of HICH.It describes the mechanisms of the enlargement of hematoma,edema and the possible brain injury from secondary ischemia after HICH,which might be helpful to plan the effective management of HICH. |
