Objective: To review the effect of posterior cervical endoscopic surgery and its effect on the incidence of axial symptoms. Methods: From December 2013 to November 2016,a total of 84 patients underwent single segment cervical posterior surgery in our hospital, and 69 patients with complete follow-up data were included in this study.Among them, there were 37 cases of cervical spondylotic myelopathy and 32 cases of cervical spondylotic radicular spondylosis,17 patients received posterior endoscopic surgery, and 52 patients were given traditional posterior open surgery. The patients were divided into the open group and the endoscope group according to the different surgical procedures. The curative effect of two groups of patients was evaluated according to the MacNab standard and the Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)treatment score. On the basis of neck axial symptom assessment standards of two groups of patients with clinical outcome were evaluated according to postoperative cervical back pain score(Visual analogue scale,VAS)evaluation of axial symptom severity and neck stiffness, muscle damage evaluation based on the degree of postoperative muscle injury related indicators. Results: A total of 69 patients undergoing cervical spine surgery were followed up for 12~15 months, with an average of 13.1 months. After operation, the symptoms of nerve and spinal cord compression were significantly relieved in two groups, and there was no significant difference in two groups(P>0.05).There were 17 cases in the endoscopic group and 1 case of axial symptoms after operation, with the incidence of 5.88%,and 52 in the open group. The incidence of axial symptoms in 20 cases was 38.46%.The axial symptoms of the endoscopic group did not affect the daily life of the patients;6 patients with axial symptoms in the open group had serious influence on daily life,11 cases were relieved with drug treatment, and 3 cases had no influence on daily life.Compared with the open group, the endoscopic group had less muscle damage and faster recovery, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion: Posterior cervical endoscopic surgery is effective in the treatment of cervical spondylosis, and it can enormously reduce the incidence of axial symptoms after operation.
