Objective: To understand the epidemiological characteristics of measles epidemic in Benxi City,Liaoning Province and its main influencing factors;master the progress of eliminating measles in Benxi City;provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control and elimination of measles in Benxi City.Methods: Measles surveillance data,operational indicators and measles vaccination rate information from 2009 to 2016 were collected from Measles Information Reporting Management System of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of Benxi City.Chi-square test and the spearman correlation analysis were conducted to explore and evaluate the related factors.Results: A total of 1049 cases of measles were reported in Benxi City between 2009-2016.The highest incidence of measles occurred in 2009 and 2014,the numbers were 35.18 per 100,000 people and 25.24 per 100,000 people respectively.The incidence in other years was below 1 per 100,000 people.No measles cases were reported in 2012.The distribution of measles cases was with obvious seasonality,mainly in winter and spring,with more cases reported from January to May.The measles incidence between male and female was 1.17:1.The age of onset ranged from 2 months to 55 years old.Measles incidence has a tendency to increase with age,especially among people aged ?25.Measles cases were occupationally distributed in farmers(223,accounted for 21.26%),scattered-living children(181,accounted for17.25%),and students(156,accounted for 14.84%).Occupations with low incidence are people working in the restaurant industry,teachers,doctors and the retired population.Spatially,Mingshan District,Benxi County Huanren County witnessed the highest incidence.In Pingshan District and Xihu District the incidence rate was low,and there were no measles cases reported in Hi-tech Zone and Nanfen District.There are slightly more local measles cases compared with the mobile ones.The relationships between measles occurrence,immunity,medical history(7-21 days before the onset),and whether or not working in the collective workplace were statistically relevant.The vaccination rate of measles-containing vaccine reached above 95%.There exhibited no rank correlation between measles incidence and measles vaccination rate.The overall performance of themeasles surveillance system was satisfactory,but individual indicators of individual years did not meet requirements.Conclusion: Measles prevention and control measures in Benxi City have played a positive and effective role,but there is still a certain gap between the goal of eliminating measles.People over the age of 25 are still the most important target population of prevention and control of measles.The surveillance of measles epidemics should be further strengthened.At the same time,it is necessary to increase the vaccination level of measles-containing vaccine in children and carry out supplementary immunization activities for the immunocompromised population.
