The Study On Caring Characters And Its Associated Factors Among Graduate Nurses

Objectives:The purpose of the study is to investigate the status of the quality of caring characters for graduate students and discuss the related factors,which will lay the foundation for improving the quality of care for graduate nurses and promoting the more efficient implementation and promotion of care.Method:1.By using the convenient sampling method,170 graduate education nurses from 13grade three A hospitals in Shandong province from December 2016 to August 2017 were selected as the survey subjects.To investigated the present situation and the influencing factors of the caring characters of the graduate students by using the general information questionnaire,the nurses’humanistic care quality scale,the nurses’job stress source scale,and the occupational identity scale.The data were analyzed by SPSS21.0software.General information were described by frequency and percentage.The score of nurses’caring characters,nurses’job stress source,and the occupational identity were described by the mean and standard deviation,median and four percentile;Analysis of influencing factors of the nurses’humanistic care quality by independent sample t-test,rank and test,single factor variance,Pearson and Spearman correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis.2.The research selected seven graduate nurses to conduct semi-structured interviews with the intention sampling method.The data were analyzed to further understand the factors which might affect the caring characters of graduate education nurses.Nvivo11.0software is used to store,code and analyze the data.Results:1.The total score of the graduate nurses’caring characters was(123.10±2.57).The four dimension scores were from high to low in turn was:caring knowledge,caring ability,caring perception and caring concept.The score on the graduate nurses’job stress source was(2.36±0.40).The biggest working pressure is from workload and time allocation.The score on the graduate nurses’professional identity was(32.17±5.92).The scores of the graduate nurse~’s caring characters in different departments,specialist nurses,the degree of concern for colleagues and leaders,the social status of nurses,the training of caring characters and humanistic practice were statistically different(p<0.05).Nurses’job stress was negatively correlated with the caring characters(r=0.552,P<0.05).Occupation identity was positively correlated with the caring characters(r=0.392,P<0.05).2.The multiple linear regression showed that the main influence factors were specialist nurses,the degree of leaders’care,the training of care,the practice of humanistic care,occupation identification and nurses’job stress.3.Five core themes were refined semi-structured interviews:⑴Insufficient understanding of the connotation and importance of humanistic care;⑵Insufficient attention should be paid to the cultivation of humanistic quality,and curriculum needs to be improved;⑶The pressure of nursing work is great and the distribution of post is not reasonable;⑷Lack of humanistic care in nursing management;⑸The quality management system of humanistic care has not been formed yet.Conclusion:The overall level of graduate nurses’caring characters need to be improved in some grade III-A in Shandong Province,but the concept of caring and caring perceived was low.Nurses’job stress was negatively correlated with the quality of humanistic care.Occupation identity was positively correlated with the caring characters.It demonstrates that the pressure was lower and the occupation identity was higher,the level of humanistic care quality was higher.The main influence factors of graduate nurses’caring characters include specialist nurses,the degrees of leaders’care,the training of care,the practice of humanistic care,occupation identification,nurses’job stress,insufficient understanding of the connotation of humanistic care,insufficient attention should be paid to the cultivation of humanistic quality and the humanistic care quality management system were not perfect.
