The Mediating Effects Of Coping Style Between Acceptance Of Disability And Quality Of Life Among Patients With Mid-severe Burns

Objectives To analyze the mediating effects of coping style between acceptance of disability and quality of life among patients with mid-severe burns,in order to improve the quality of burn patients.Methods In October 2016 to September2017,A total of 311 mid-severe burn patients were recruited and investigated using acceptance of disability Scale,medical coping modes questionnaire,burn specific health scale and general condition scale.Before issuing the the questionnaires,The researcher explained the purpose of this study to the patients,after informed consent,the researcher explained the questionnaire filling request,and then,the patients fill it by themselves.If the patients can not finish it,the researcher need to help them.All questionnaires were recovered on the spot and collected on the spot after completed.All datas were analyzed by using SPSS16.0 and AMOS21.0 statistical software package,the methods including descriptive analysis,x2-test,t-test,variance analysis,pearson correlation analysis,multiple linear stepwise regression analysis and structural equation model analysis.Results 1 The quality of life of patients with mid-severe burns at medium-low lever,the total score was 208.94±36.62.The mental health dimension had the lowest score and the social function dimension had the highest score.The results showed that male patients with high cultural level,professional civil servants and high monthly income have good quality of life.2 Disability acceptance of patients with mid-severe burns was low,the total score was 64.55±9.11.3 Their scores of confrontation coping was evidently lower than national norm,while the score of avoidance coping and yield coping were evidently higher than national norms,this illustrates that the patients with mid-severe burns were less likely to adopt the coping modes of confrontation,but more coping modes of avoidance and resignation.4 The acceptance of disability,confrontation and quality of life positively correlated(r=0.588~0.921,P<0.05);Avoidance,resignation and quality of life negatively correlated(r=-0.243~-0.639,P<0.05).5 Structural equation model shows that acceptance of disability has positive effect on quality of life(?=0.554,P<0.05).Confrontation has positive effect on quality of life,Avoidance and resignation have negative effect on quality of life(?=-0.097,?=-0.023,P<0.05).Moreover,the acceptance of disability is also indirectly effect on quality of life with confrontation and avoidance(?=0.485,?=0.063,P<0.05).Conclusions 1 The quality of life of patients with mid-severe burns at medium-low lever.Gender,age,level of education,profession and monthly income are factors affecting the quality of life.2 Disability acceptance of patients with mid-severe burns was low.3 The patients with mid-severe burns were less likely to adopt the coping modes of avoidance and resignation.4 Coping style and acceptance of disability are related to the quality of life.5 Disability acceptance and confrontation have positively effect on quality of life,Avoidance and resignation have positively effect on quality of life.Moreover,the acceptance of disability is also indirectly effect on quality of life with confrontation and avoidance as the intermediary variable.
