Objective To observe the relationship between cumulative exposure to hypertension and carotid artery plaque detection rate in middle-aged and elderly people of Kailuan Group. Methods Cross-sectional studies was adopted, and 5440 workers of Tangshan Kailuan Company were recruited.According to the exposure duration of hypertension, people were divided into four groups, including hypertension exposure to 0 years,2 years,4 years,6 years,8 years group.SPSS13.0 statistical software was used to analyze the data.Multiple Logistic regression analysis was used to test the association of cumulative exposure to hypertension and carotid artery plaque detection rate. Results Of 5440 participants,3764 with sufficient data met the including standard, average age was 52.9±8.7 years old.Including 2076(55.2%)male patients,1688(44.8%)female patients. With the increasing time of cumulative exposure to hypertension, carotid artery plaque detection rate increased gradually, carotid artery plaque detection rate of 0 years to 8 years exposure group were 31.5%,43.9%,50.2%,54.1% and 63.9%,respectively(Ptrend < 0.05).Multiariable Logistic regression analysis showed, after adjustment for other confounding factors, compared with 0 years exposure to hypertension, exposure to 2 years,4 years,6 years,8 years group increased risk of carotid plaque detection rate(OR=1.52,1.83,1.66,2.19,respectively).Conclusion 1 In the industrial cities of northern China, the higher the cumulative systolic pressure, the higher the detection rate of carotid artery plaque, the higher the risk of atherosclerotic disease.2 The cumulative exposure to hypertension is the risk factor for carotid artery plaque detection rate.3 In the prevention and treatment of hypertension in middle-aged and elderly people,it is important to pay attention to long-term hypertension and reduce the risk of plaques and target organ damage caused by continuous hypertension.
