Objective: The purpose of this study was that through investgating osteoporosis risk factors, and analysing how does lipids, osteocalcin as well as APOE genotype influence bone mineral density of lumbar and carotid artery plaque formation to explore the relationship of osteoporosis and carotid artery plaque formation. Methods: (1) Male patients over the age of 60 of Han Chinese ethnicity were selected. Subjects were divided according to bone mineral density: Osteoporosis group and non-osteoporosis group. Osteoporosis risk factors were analyzed; (2) Chinese male patients 60-80 years old were selected, subjects were divided into the following according to bone mineral density and carotid artery color Doppler ultrasound: normal control group, carotid artery plaque formation group (CAP group), BMD decreased group (BMD↓group), BMD decreased with carotid plaque formation group (CAP/BMD↓group); APOE genotype testing were performed to compare the various groups of the APOE gene polymorphism;(3) Lipid metabolism-related targets and osteocalcin differences were compared between CAP group, BMD↓group, CAP / BMD↓group.Results:①BMI, IMT and AGE are related to osteoporosis;②APOE gene polymorphism testing showed that the APOE4 genotype probability of CAP group and CAP/BMD↓group is higher than the normal control group (P <0.05), while the APOE4 genotype probability of BMD↓group and normal control showed no significant difference (P> 0.05);③Comparison of the probability of APOE4 genotype between CAP group, BMD↓group, and CAP/BMD↓group showed no significant differences (P> 0.05);④Between CAP group, BMD↓group, and CAP / BMD↓group, TG was statistically different, while TC, HDL, LDL, B / A ratio in the three groups were not statistically significant. But, when compared between two groups about TG, CAP group and the CAP / BMD↓group TG was no difference, while BMD↓group and the CAP / BMD↓there are differences, so TG in the CAP / BMD↓group increased to consider the factor of CAP;⑤Comparison of the formation of carotid artery plaque BGP levels between CAP group, BMD↓group, and CAP / BMD↓group was not statistically significant(P> 0.05)Conclusion: Age and IMT thickening may be the risk factors of osteoporosis, BMI and osteoporosis was negatively correlated. APOE4 genotype may be the risk factor of carotid plaque, however, it and osteoporosis are not significantly associated. The levels of TG, BPG and APOE genotype are not the risk factors of BMD decreased patients combined with carotid artery plaque.
