Objectives:To describe the epidemiological characteristics of injury in Dehui City, analyze the risk factors that affect the severity of injury, and provide evidence for the development of effective injury prevention and control strategies and measures. Methods:Related data for Dehui City from 2007 to 2014 were retrieved.IBM SPSS 24.0software was used to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of injuries and the influencing factors of injury severity Count and percentage was utilized to describe the distribution of categorical variables,c~2 test or Fisher test was performed for the comparison between different groups, and multivariate logistic regression was conducted for influencing factors of injury severity.Results:1.Among the 36011 cases of injuries, the ratio of male-to-female was 2.17:1,and the age group of 30-44 years accounted for the highest proportion(40.18%).People with junior high school education level was the majority(61.00%).The top three occupations were the production personnel of the agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery or water conservancy(33.71%),the staff and related personnel(14.18%),and the business/service people(13.90%).2.The top three causes of injury were road traffic injuries(50.01%),falls(27.85%)and poisoning(7.61%).The distribution of injury causes varied among different genders, ages, and occupations(P<0.001).3.The majority of injury occurred in July and August. The distribution of injury causes varied with season(P<0.001).The high-occurrence time period of injury were 9:00-10:00,12:00-13:00,15:00-16:00,and 18:00-19:00,respectively.The time of occurrence of different injury causes was different(P<0.001).2236 cases(6.21%)were hospitalized within 1 hours after the injury occurred.4.The top three places where injuries occurred were roads/streets(53.61%),homes(24.63%),and public places of residence(8.89%).The distribution of places varied with genders, ages, and causes(P<0.001).The main cause of injury were driving(51.11%),recreational activities(23.94%),and housekeeping/learning(15.71%).The distribution of activities varied with genders, ages, and injury causes(P<0.001).5.The top three parts of body vulnerable to injury were head(45.81%),lower extremity(20.95%),and upper extremity(17.17%).The distribution of injured parts of body was different for different genders, ages, occupations, activities, and causes(P<0.001).The top three nature of injuries were bruises/scratches(53.01%),fractures(18.20%),sharp injuries/bites/open wounds(9.50%).The distribution of nature of injuries was different for different genders, ages, and causes(P<0.001).The injury outcome was dominated by observation/hospitalization/transfer(59.19%),followed by treatment(40.70%).The distribution of injury outcome for genders, ages, and causes was different(P<0.001).The degree of injury was mainly moderate(50.42%),followed by mild(47.06%)and severe(2.52%).6.The intention classfication of injury was mainly unintentional(91.11%),followed by self-inflicted inimy/suicide(5.65%)and intentional(3.11%).7.The number of unintentional injuries was dominated by men(69.78%),and the30-44 age group was with the highest proportion(40.74%).The top three occupations were production staff in the agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery and water conservancy industry(32.27%),staff and related personnel(15.12%),and business/service personnel(14.12%).8.Self-inflicted inimy/suicide cases were dominated by women(60.56%)and the15-29 age group(36.39%).The top three occupations were production staff in the agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery and water conservancy(56.34%),housekeeping(11.44%),and commercial/service workers(9.63%).9.The intentional injury cases were dominated by males(84.30%)and most of them were under 30-44 years old(39.43%).The top three occupations were production staff in the agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery and water conservancy(35.41%),commercial/service personnel(15.70%)and unemployed personnel(10.62%).10.Multivariate logistic regression showed that age, education level, occupation, time, location, cause, activity when injury occurred, injury intention were independent influencing factors of severity of injury(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.Male,young to middle-aged,low-educated people, and farmers, animal husbandry, fisheries, and water conservancy workers are high-risk groups.2.Time,place and activity when injury occurred have aggregation3.Road traffic injuries, falls, and poisoning are the main types of injury.4.head,lower limbs, and upper limbs are mainly injured parts of body. The nature of the injuries are mostly contusion/abrasive fractures, sharp injury/bite/open wounds. The injury outcomes are dominated by observed/hospitalized/transferred,and return home after treatment. The severity of injury is mainly moderate.Unintended is the main intention of injiury.5.Males,young adults, production personnel, staff and related personnel in the agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery and water conservancy industry, and business/service personnel are high-risk groups who have experienced unintentional injuries.6.Famles,young adults, production staff, household chores, and business/service workers in agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery and water conservancy are at high risk of suicide/self-injury.7.Males,young adults, production personnel in the agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery and water conservancy industries,business/service personnel, and unemployed people are high-risk groups of intentional injury.8.Age,education level, occupation, time of occurrence, location, cause, activity at the time of occurrence, intention of injury are independent factors that affect the severity of injury.
