Objective:To study the characteristics of depression in patients with maintenance hemodialysis(MHD)and to explore the possible risk factors associated with depression in patients with MHD.Methods:A non-probability sampling method was used to select 218MHD patients who met the inclusion criteria from three hemodialysis centers in Urumqi and Ili areas from January 2016 to March 2017.The subjects were divided into depression group and non-depression group using Zung Self-rating depression scale(SDS).The differences of gender, age, serum albumin(ALB),hemoglobin,Pre-dialysis serum creatinine, and PEW among the two groups were compared. And a binary Logistic regression model was established to analyze the risk factors of depression.Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient was used to explore the relationship between Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment scale score and Zung Self-rating depression scale score to explore the impact of PEW on depression in MHD patients. Results:The detection rate of patients with depression was 60.6%(132/218).The detection rates of PEW in depression group and non-depression group were 77.3%vs53.5%(P<0.001),albumin levels were35.80(30.80,39.50)g/Lvs.38.70(35.55,41.93)g/L(P<0.001).The pre-dialysis levels of creatinine were658.50(288.25±898.25)?mol/Lvs.756.00(540.75±1002.00)?mol/L(P=0.007)respectively.There was a positive correlation between Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment and Zung Self-rating depression scale(r_s=0.290,P<0.001).There was a negative correlation between Zung depression self-rating scale scores and serum albumin levels(r_s=-0.149,P=0.028).Logistic regression model analysis showed that PEW,low albuminlevels were risk factors for depression. Conclusion:Thehigh detection rate of depression in MHD patients.PEW,low serum albumin levels were the risk factors for depression.Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment in depression group was significantly higher than non-depression group.Patients with the higher the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment, the more severe the depression.
