Objective: To study predictive value of combination scores of procalcitonin and D-dimer(PCT-DD score)for 28-days mortality in sepsis patients. Methods: From July2015 to December 2016,175 consecutive patients with sepsis in infectious diseases department and emergency department in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University were retrospectively studied.Patients were grouped according to clinical outcomes(survival and death)and different PCT-DD scores(0 point and 1point).The difference of each index in each group was compared, and the cumulative survival according to PCT-DD scores were investigated using multivariable Cox regression and Kaplan-Meier analyses. Results: There were 79/175 28-days of death. The patients in death group had the higher procalcitonint and D-dimer than those in survival group, both P<0.001.Compared with the patients with PCT-DD score of 0,there had a significantly higher rate of 28-days of death and a lower cumulative survival rate in PCT-DD score of 1(all P<0.001).Cox regression analysis indicated that PCT-DD[(1vs0)HR:2.949,95% CI:1.806-4.817,P <0.001)]was a significant independent predictor of mortality in sepsis patients. Conclusion: PCT-DD score could be used as an independent index to measure the severity and prognosis of patients with sepsis.
