Since the reform and opening up,China's food and nutrition work has made great achievements. The food production capacity has been significantly enhanced, the consumption of residents has steadily increased, the consumption structure has become increasingly diversified, and the structure of dietary consumption has gradually changed from the traditional consumption pattern that was primarily based on plant-based foods to modern dietary mode of consumption that includes animal and plant foods. Therefore,it is an important task for China's socio-economic development to further clarify the goals of food and nutrition development, coordinate our limited resources, and coordinate the relationship between nutrition, consumption, and production. This paper takes the balance of supply and demand of dietary protein between urban and rural residents in China as the main research line, analyzes the differences between the current domestic residents' protein intake and standard demand, and proposes corresponding suggestions for the optimization of dietary consumption structure and adjustment of agricultural production structure in China.Ablove all have a practical significance to achieve "The Healthy China Strategy".From the nutrition point of view, this paper through analysis of the protein content, production and consumption status of various types of foods, select 40 types of foods in seven major categories such as grain, vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs, milk and aquatic products. As a research object, based on systematic research on predecessors' research methods, and combined with China's food production and consumption structure, calculated the protein content values of major foods in China from 1992 to 2016;Secondly,in order to ensure that the dietary protein intake of residents conforms to the actual situation, this article analyzes the actual dietary consumption of the residents, and uses the time series regression model to calculate the missing values of the part of the residents dining out;Thirdly, based on the calculated food consumption, this paper estimates the dietary protein intake of the national, urban and rural residents from 1992 to 2016,and compares the results with “The Residents of A Balanced Diet Pagoda” standard requirements of food protein which energy intake between 1600 and 2400 kcal, trying to assess the status of dietary protein intake in our country from a macro perspective; Finally, according to the results of the previous analysis,to analyze and summarize the dietary protein supply, demand, and the balance between supply and demand in China's residents, put forward to policy recommendations for China's agricultural industry planning which based on the perspective of protein demand.Through the research,we can draw the following conclusions: 1)The food consumption structure of urban and rural residents in China is showing an upward trend, but from the view of protein intake quantity,it is still behind the nutritional goals.National residents have sufficiently protein intake of meat, while the protein intake of fruits, eggs, milk and aquatic products is relatively low;The urban residents' the protein intake of milk is insufficient;Rural residents develop slowly than urban residents,.among them protein intake of fruits and milk is insufficient, while insufficient animal protein intake is mainly related to poor dietary intake of protein in eggs, milk, and aquatic products;2)At this stage, the consumption of beans, fruits, eggs, milk and aquatic products by our residents needs to be improved based on protein demand.Pork consumption in meat consumption is the top priority, and there is more room for growth in beef, mutton and poultry consumption;3)Based on protein demand, the development of China's agricultural structure should focus on expanding soybean cultivation actively and accelerating the development of soybean industry;optimizing the production structure of animal husbandry and appropriately controlling the excessive growth of livestock production;vigorously developing the fishery industry to enhance the quality of protein in the diet of the residents.
