BackgroundIn recent years, the incidence of posterior cruciate ligament(PCL)injuries has gradually increased, possibily due to car accident injuries and frequently participating in com petitive sports activities.Further understanding of the PCL anatomical mechanism, improvement of clinical diagnostic techniques, and progress of the arthroscopic equipment and surgical techniques have resulted in satisfactory clinical outcomes after surgery.Due to the special anatomical structure of the posterior cruciate ligament,it is th icker and stronger than the anterior cruciate ligament. In the past, the original PCL femur and tibial stump and surrounding synovial membrane are usually removed to obtain better surgical view and more accurate bone tunnel positioning point. With the development of the PCL reconstruction technique,we find it is diffi cult to fully restore its' unique anatomical structure through single-bundle PCL reconstruction using autologous hamstring tendons. We hope not only restore biolo gical stability of the PCL,but also restore its' proprioception after PCL reconstruction.PCL has potention to heal after injury, and some scholars think that even after PCL healed, there is still existing relaxation by MRI studies. The residual structure has the potential to revascularize, protect proprioceptors, and stabilize the knee. Some scholars make PCL reconstruction with preservation of the remants and achieve good results. The purpose of this article is to explore and analyse the technique and effecti veness of arthroscopic single-bundle PCL reconstruction with preservation of the remnants, and to better serve the clinic. Objective To analyse the technique and effectiveness of arthroscopic single-bundle posterior cruciate ligament(PCL)reconstruction with preservation of the remnants. Methods A total of 25 patients underwent arthroscopic PCL single-bundle reconst ruction with preservation of the remnants between January 2014 and June 2015.The patients were assessed by means of Lysholm score and IKDC subjective knee score and Tegner activity score.Follow-up magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)was performed at about 6 months. Results Follow up time was 6 to 24 months(average 15 months,15±4.76),no severe complications occurred at early stage. The mean Lysholm score was increased from(57.2±5.5)to(89.3±4.2),and the mean IKDC subjective knee score from(51.1 ±6.7)to(88.3±6.2),and Tegner score from(2.5± 1.8)to(5.8± 1.3).Conclusion Arthroscopic single-bundle PCL reconstruction with preservation of the remnants is an effective and feasible method, with satisfactory clinical and functional outcomes.
