ObjectiveTo study the therapeutic effect of meibomian gland massage on dry eye after phacoemulsification of patients with age-related cataract, and to seek more scientific nursing intervention methods in order to improve the quality of life of patients after phacoemulsification.MethodsThe experiment selected 68 age-related cataract patients who came down with dry eyes after phacoemulsification in the Department of Ophthalmology of Henan Provincial People's Hospital from November 2017 to February 2018.All patients accorded with and were included in the exclusion criteria. The patients were randomly divided into two groups, with 34 persons in the control group and 34 in the intervention group to conduct prospective, double blind and randomized controlled trial. The control group was given a conventional drug treatment, while the intervention group was given an extra meibomian gland massage intervention apart from the drug treatment. The patients underwent 6 weeks of intervention. Before the intervention and 2 weeks,4 weeks and 6 weeks after intervention, three objective examinations of tear break-up time, corneal fluorescein staining and schirmer test, and the ocular surface disease index scale were examed and tested in two groups respectively, after which the data are recorded.By using IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0,the data were statistically analyzed to compare the difference between the results of different parameters of patients who received routine medication and those with increased meibomian gland massage.Results(1)Before intervention, all indicators, including general information,BUT results,CFS scores,SIt resuts,OSDI scale scores and other indicators, were not statistically different(P >0.05).(2)The difference of BUT results between the two groups at different time of measurement was statistically significant(F=4.382,P=0.037).After intervention, there was an apparent improvement compared with that before intervention. The BUT results of the intervention group at 2 weeks,4 weeks and 6 weeks after intervention were significantly better than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)The difference of CFS scores between the two groups at different time of measurement was statistically significant(F=378.003,P<0.001).After intervention, there was an apparent improvement compared with that before intervention. The CFS scores of the intervention group at 2 weeks,4 weeks and 6 weeks after intervention were significantly better than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(4)The difference of SIt results between the two groups at different time of measurement was not statistically significant, and when doing pair-wise comparison, the SIt results of both the intervention group and the control group at 2 weeks,4 weeks and 6 weeks after intervention were not statistically significant(P>0.05).(5)The difference of OSDI scale scores between the two groups at different time of measurement was statistically significant. After intervention, there was an apparent improvement compared with that before intervention. The OSDI scale scores of the intervention group at 2 weeks,4 weeks and 6 weeks after intervention were significantly better than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(6)The clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared, the overall effective of intervention group were 94.12%,control group were 73.53%,there were significant difference(P=0.021).ConclusionMeibomian gland massage is used to perform the nursing intervention for age-related cataract patients who came down with dry eyes after phacoemulsification for the first time.Meibomian gland massage can effectively relieve the dry eye symptoms and shorten the recovery time of the dry eye after the operation, which can be expected to become one of the nursing plan for age-related cataract patients who came down with dry eyes after phacoemulsification.
