Objective:Until now there have been many studies on the correlation with schizophrenia and neurotrophy and nerve damage. Some valuable neurotrophic and neurological damage markers have been discovered. This object is based on the hypothesis of neurodevelopmental and nerve damage in schizophrenic patients, investigate the changes of serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF),nerve growth factor(NGF),myelin basic protein(MBP),and calcium-binding protein(S100?)levels pretherapy and post-treatment in the adolescent schizophrenia to assess the development of neurons in adolescents and brain damage,as well as the correlation between serum protein factors and psychopathology. Methods:Our study used case-control.Case group: 30 first-episode schizophrenic patients aged 13-18 years old, average 16.87±1.38 years old;the control group: 30 healthy adolescents aged 13-18 years old, with an average of 16.27±1.62 years old.The case group, draw off venous blood was collected two times before treatment and after 8weeks of treatment,at the same time, the case group was assessed with PANSS scale. In the normal control group, only draw off venous blood was collected one time.Serum concentrations of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF),nerve growth factor(NGF),myelin basic protein(MBP),and calcium-binding protein(S100?)were determined by ELISA respectively.T-test was used for comparison between groups.Between serum protein factors and PANSS scores were assayed by Pearson correlation analysis.Result:1 Before treatment, the patient group concentrations of erum BDNF(t=-3.532,P=0.001)and NGF concentration(t=-4.130,P=0.000)were significantlylower than the normal control group;and the levels of S100?(t=2.031,P=0.051)and MBP(t=1.771,P=0.084)were higher than the normal control group, but the difference was not significant.2 Compared with before treatment, serum BDNF(t=-4.429,P=0.000)and NGF(t=-3.822,P=0.001)concentrations significantly increased after 8 weeks of antipsychotic treatment;3 Compared with the total PANSS score, the concentration of NGF before treatment was significantly negatively correlated(r=-0.395,P=0.031).There was no correlation between NGF and positive symptom score, negative symptom score and general psychopathological score before treatment(P>0.05);4 Compared with negative symptoms, the concentration of BDNF before treatment was negatively correlated(r=-0.380,P=0.038).There was no correlation between BDNF and positive symptom scores, general psychopathological scores, and total PANSS scores before treatment(P>0.05).5 There was no correlation between BDNF,NGF and positive symptom scores, negative symptom scores, general psychopathological scores, and total PANSS scores after treatment(P>0.05).Conclusion:1 Decreased concentrations of BNDF and NGF in the serum of adolescent schizophrenia patients, suggesting abnormal neurological development in adolescents during development;BDNF and NGF in the serum of adolescent schizophrenia patients treated with antipsychotics are significantly increased compared with before treatment.2 The levels of MBP and S100? in the patient group were higher than that in the normal control group, but the difference was not statistically significant,The study suggests that the neurotrophins BDNF and NGF are more likely to participate in the development of disease than the nerve damage protein MBP and S100? in the early stages of schizophrenia.3 The concentration of NGF in serum before treatment was negatively correlated with the total PANSS score;the concentration of BDNF in serum in serum wasnegatively correlated with the negative symptom score.
