The Influence Of Self-esteem And Self-efficacy On Quality Of Lite In Senile Catract Patients

Objectives:To understand the senile cataracts' general condition and their present condition of self-esteem,self-efficacy and life quality;to analyze the general demographic characteristics differences in senile cataracts' self-esteem,self-efficacy and life quality;to well define the correlation among senile cataracts' self-esteem,self-efficacy and life quality,and to study the influence of senile cataracts' self-esteem and self-efficacy on their life.Methods:The convenient sampling method was used to study the senile cataract outpatients and inpatients in the ophthalmology department of the affiliated Hospital of Jilin Medical College from January to August in 2017.A total of 270 questionnaires were issued,among which 264 were valid,with 97.8%feedback rate.The main research tools include general information questionnaire,self-esteem scale,self-efficacy scale,and Chinese version of low vision life quality questionnaire.All the data were analyzed by SPSS21.0 statistical software.The demographic characteristics,self-esteem,self-efficacy and life quality of the subjects were described by means,standard deviation and percentage.The differences of self-esteem,self-efficacy and life quality in different demographic characteristics were analyzed by T test and ANOVA test.The correlation among self-esteem,self-efficacy and life quality were confirmed by Pearson Correlation Analysis.The influences of self-esteem and self-efficacy on the life quality were studied by multiple linear stepwise regression analysis.Results:(1)The average score of subjects' self-esteem is(2.68±0.40).The self-esteem level of senile cataract patients is lower.There are differences in self-esteem between senile cataract patients with different ages,education levels,monthly income,marital status,living condition,care situation and long-term medication characteristics,which is statistically significant(P<0.05).Among the subjects,the self-esteem index is higher for those who is 70?79 years old,with better education background,more than 3,000 yuan monthly income,living with their old married couple and children,and can live on their own generally.(2)The average score of the total amount of self-efficacy is(1.92± 0.78).The self-efficacy of senile cataract patients is at the level of medium on the low side.The self-efficacy of senile cataract patients with chronic diseases are different according to their different education background,pre-retirement occupation,monthly income and medical insurance and self-sufficiency ability.This difference has statistical significance(P<0.01).The self-efficacy is better for those senile cataract patients who is self-cared retired cadres with high education level,more than 3000 yuan monthly income,medical insurance reimbursement,and without chronic diseases.(3)The average score of the subjects life quality is(2.16±0.86).The life quality for senile cataract patients is at the lower level.Because of different education level,pre-retirement occupation,monthly income,medical insurance,marital status,housing situation care,the life quality of senile cataract patients with chronic diseases is different,and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.01).The life quality is better for those who is self-cared retired cadres with higher education background,more than 3000 yuan monthly income,better medical insurance reimbursement,living with their spouse and children,and without chronic diseases.(4)Pearson correlation analysis showed that there is significant difference between self-esteem and life quality(P<0.01).The life quality score increases with the increasing of self-esteem score.There is significant difference in positive correlation between self-efficacy and life quality(P<0.01).The life quality score increases with the increasing of self-efficacy score.There was a significant positive correlation between the score of self-esteem and quality of life,and its correlation coefficient was 0.223.Score of self-efficacy was significantly positive correlation with score of quality of life,and its correlation coefficient was 0.487.(5)Stratified stepwise regression analysis shows that the influence factors upon life quality include medical insurance,self-efficacy,marital status,education background,self-esteem,and chronic disease,which has statistical significance(P<0.05).The influence factors ordinal arrangement is as follow:self-efficacy(Beta=0.308),Medical insurance(Beta=-0.303),Marital status(Beta=-0.257),Level of education(Beta=-0.197).Self-esteem(Beta=-0.188),Chronic disease(Beta=-0.130).The overall interpretation rate is 34.6%.Conclusion:(1)The senile cataract patients' self-esteem level is lower,their self-efficacy is at the level of medium on the low side,and their life quality is at the lower level.(2)The self-esteem level for senile cataract patients is related to age,education background,monthly income,marital status,living condition and self-care ability.The self-efficacy is related to the education background,pre-retirement occupation,monthly income,medical expenses,self care condition,and chronic diseases;the life quality is related to education background,pre-retirement occupation,the monthly income,medical expenses,marital status,the living condition,the self-care condition,and chronic diseases.(3)There is a significant positive correlation between self-esteem,self-efficacy and life quality for senile cataract patients.(4)The vital influence factors of life quality for elderly cataract patients are medical insurance,self-efficacy,marital status,education level,self-esteem,and chronic disease.It is self-efficacy that affects life quality to the most degree.
