Objective Using the cross-sectional investigation to detect the present situation and influencing factors of successful aging and the Constitution Types of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the elderly were investigated.Study on the Correlation between Successful Aging and Constitution Types of Traditional Chinese Medicine(CTTCM),providing theoretical support and reference for the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine methods to improve the level of successful aging.MethodsFrom June to October 2017,elderly people of 10 community in Lixia District and Huaiyin District of Jinan City were investigated by cross-sectional investigation,a total of 600 questionnaires were distributed and 498 valid questionnaires were returned. The contents of the investigation include:general information questionnaire, the Chinese-version Successful Aging Inventory(C-SAI),Constitution in Chinese Medicine Questionnaire. The data were analyzed by SPSS 23.0.Results1.498 old adults participated in this study, the mean score of the Chinese-version Successful aging Inventory(C-SAI)was(56.90± 10.01)By the single-factor analysis,we found that age, education, living conditions, number of children, physical exercise, eating habits, quality of sleep and participation in social activities can affect Successful Aging status, the scores of successful aging were different among different CTTCM,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Multiple regression analysis showed that education, living conditions, eating habits, quality of sleep, participation in social activities,Qi-deficient Constitution and Stagnant Qi Constitution were the predictive factors of SAI(R2=0.465,F=5.245,P<0.001).2.Totally 199 participants were Balanced Constitution,14.9%(74)were Qi-deficient Constitution,14.7%(73)were Yang-deficient Constitution,6.0%(30)were Yin-deficient Constitution,9.0%(45)were Phlegm-dampness Constitution,3.8%(19)were Damp-heat Constitution,3.6%(18)were Stagnant Blood Constitution,6.0%(30)were Stagnant Qi Constitution,2.0%(10)were Inherited Special Constitution. There are more men with Balanced Constitution(23.7%)than women(16.30%).The proportion that Unbalanced Constitutions of men is(26.1%)lower than that of women(33.9%).Among the survey subjects, hypertension was the most common chronic disease, accounting for 37.75%(187),diabetes 9.83%(49),heart disease 11.45%(57).The participants' BMI>25.0 of a total of 267 people(53.6%),of which 102 people(20.5%)were Balanced Constitution,165(33.1%)were Unbalanced Constitutions constitution, the main type of constitution is Qi-deficiency Constitution,Yang-deficiency Constitution and Phlegm-dampness Constitution.Only 2 elder peoples' BMI is<18.5.3.The results of single factor variance analysis showed that there were differences in the total scores of successful aging and the scores of different dimensions among different physique types, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.001).Successful Aging is correlated with the CTTCM,the Balanced Constitution had higher SAI while the other types got lower SAI scores, and the correlation coefficients of Spearman correlation analysis was-0.355(P<0.001).Conclusions1.In this study,498 elderly people were in the middle level of Successful Aging.2.The Constitution Types of Traditional Chinese Medicine are mostly Unbalanced Constitutions.3.There is a correlation between the level of Successful Aging and the CTTCM,The level of successful aging of the elderly with Balanced Constitutions is higher than that of the elderly with Unbalanced Constitutions. The individual TCM method can be used to correct the Unbalanced Constitution and improve the health in order to raise the level of Successful Aging.
