Objective: Through investigating the attitudes and causes of the establishment of long-term care insurance systems for elderly people in northeastern Sichuan and western Sichuan, analyze the relevant factors that affect the attitude of the elderly to establish a long-term care insurance system,so as to provide reference for the establishment and implementation of regional long-term care insurance system. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted and convenient sampling was used to collect 1,200 eligible elderly people in seven regions including Nanchong,Dazhou,Suining,Guangyuan,Guang'an,Deyang and Mianyang in northeastern Sichuan and western Sichuan, and combined the self-prepared questionnaires of the literature—the questionnaire survey on the Attitude of the Elderly to Establish a Long-Term Care Insurance System, conducted a questionnaire survey. The data were analyzed statistically by SPSS 17.0,the measurement data were described statistically by mean standard deviation, the counting data were described statistically by composition ratio, and the correlation analysis was analyzed statistically by chi-square test and logistic regression;About the open question text answer, adopts the code, the induction carries on the data analysis, uses the composition ratio to carry on the statistical description. Results: 1.The elderly in northeastern Sichuan and western Sichuan accounted for 47.1% and 52.9%,respectively,of their “necessary” and “unnecessary” attitudes toward establishing a long-term care insurance system. The main reasons considered necessary are: to reduce the family burden(36.2%),to protect the elderly life(32.4%),and to support the country's policy to develop the elderly service industry(22.2%);The main reasons why it is unnecessary are: self-care and family care(35.6%),lack of understanding of long-term care insurance(33.4%),financial difficulties and inability to pay premiums(22.6%).2.A correlation analysis of the characteristics that may affect the attitude of establishing a long-term care insurance system is statistically significant: gender(P=0.035),age(P=0.009),education(P=0.004)and place of usual residence(P=0.042)in demographic factors;whether there is a spouse in family factors(P=0.01)or whether they live with children(P=0.002);monthly income in economic factors(P=0.031);whether the self or the cognitive person in the cognitive and ideological factors are receiving long-term care(P<0.001)and ideal pension(P=0.005).3.Nine statistically significant features obtained from single factor analysis were analyzed by Logistic regression.the results showed that: Regarding the attitude that it is necessary to establish a long-term care insurance system, the elderly with high education level is 1.224 times that of the elderly with low education level(OR = 1.224 95% CI: 1.027-1.458).The elderly people who live with their children is 0.763 times that of those who do not live with their children(OR = 0.763 95% CI: 0.596-0.975).The elderly people who tend to choose institutions to provide for the aged is 1.565 times that of those who expect their families to provide for the aged(OR = 1.565 95% CI: 1.058-2.315).The elderly who are receiving long-term care by themselves or people they know is 1.572 times that of those who are not receiving long-term care(OR = 1.572 95% CI: 1.232-2.004).Conclusion:1.Nearly half of the elderly in northeastern Sichuan and western Sichuan support the establishment of a long-term care insurance system.2.Demographic factors, family factors, cognition, and concept factors influence the attitude of the elderly people in northeastern Sichuan and western Sichuan to establish a long-term care insurance system;economic and health factors do not affect the attitude of the elderly in the region to establish a long-term care insurance system.3.The higher the education level, the longer-term caregivers the older persons they or the people they know are deemed necessary to establish a long-term nursing care insurance system in northeast Sichuan and western Sichuan;the better the family support and the higher the degree of family dependence, the more the elderly think it is unnecessary to establish a long-term care insurance system.
