The thought of Chinese traditional medical ethics education is a valuable spiritual wealth in China and lays the foundation for contemporary medical moral education.Facing severe challenge in theory and practice,medical ethics education should be given more attention,especially the traditional medical ethics.Revisiting,inheriting and carrying forward the traditional medical ethics education theory play an important role in purifying the atmosphere in medical field and improving the medical moral quality of medical workers.This paper mainly includes five parts:The first part is introduction.This chapter describes the background,significance and research methods of this paper,summarizes the domestic and foreign research on traditional medical ethics education,and points out the innovation and shortcomings of this paper as well.The second part focuses on the origin of Chinese traditional medical ethics education thought.The influence of Confucianism,Taoism and Buddhism is profound to traditional medical ethics education.Confucianism emphasizes “cultivating virtuous person”,“taking humane-orientation as the core”,“taking personal verbal and experience as a method of teaching”.Taoism believes in “cultivating natural human nature”,“pursuing the abstinent life” and “non-language teaching”.Buddhism advocates the educational goal as “universals restoration”,“stopping evil and doing good”,“ self-educating by introspection and sudden enlightenment”.The third part is about the system of the traditional medical ethics education thought of our country.The thought of Chinese traditional medical ethics education system includes the content,the methods and the approaches of the traditional medical ethics education.The content of traditional medical ethics education includes ideas as “ medicine being benevolent ”,“ devoid of fame and lusts ” and “ obeying medical ”.The methods of medical ethics education include “ the encouragement from the famous doctors ”,“ teaching by verbal instruction as well as personal example ” and “ self-educating by introspection ”.The approaches of medical ethics education include the role of the Royal court,family discipline,inheritance from teachers and self-education.The fourth part is about evaluation on the thought of Chinese traditional moral education.The thought of traditional medical ethics education provides a theoretical basis on modern medical education,lays the foundation for building a harmonious doctor-patient relationship,and improves the moral cultivation of medical workers.At the same time,the thought of traditional moral education has its limitations: overdetermining the moral self-discipline,the lack of medical ethics education and the limitation to the feudal moral ethics.Part five is concerned about inheriting and surpassing the educational thought of China's traditional medical ethics.We should inherit and carry forward the educational thought of traditional medical ethics,incorporate the educational contents of traditional medical ethics,adopt the flexible and varied methods of moral education and perfect the approaches of education of medical ethics.and Perfect the approaches of education of medical ethics.
