Based on the translation practice of the OECD Handbook for Fisheries Managers, this report of translation analyzes problems arising in the translation process and puts forward specific strategies for solving these problems. The OECD handbook is initially translated with Trados and then processed by the manual postediting.Upon the completion of the tranlstion, the reflections are made on the translating practice, which gives rise to this translation practice report. The report identifies the problems encountered at the different stages in the translation process and puts forward strategies for amending the problems. In light of the Hermeneutic Theory, which is proposed by George Steiner, this report defines the translation process as the four-stage process, and they are trust, aggression, incorporation and compensation respectively. In the four-stage translation process, the problems of trust crisis, translator subjective interference, cultural collision and information contradiction arise.Training translator's professional ability, building translation team and being conscious of texts stylistic features are proposed for solving the problems of trust crisis. The techniques of supplement, ellipsis and reconstruction are proposed for solving problems arising from the translator subjective interference.Mutual absorption between the target and source cultures and localization of terms are proposed for solving the problems of cultural collision.Team checking, adding reference, providing notes and terminology manual, and extended reading of relevant fisheries literature are proposed for solving the problems of information contradiction. This report is supposed to provide practical strategies for translating fisheries texts which combine the characteristics of science and technology texts, political texts, and legal texts.
