The wireless telemetry technology is widely recognized and applied to measure animal physiological parameters in free moving animals,in which a small telemetry device is implanted surgically.Since the lack of experience of its application domestically,it's became important and valuable to establish this technique for drug safety assessment and pharmacodynamics study in China.The purpose of this study is to establish the telemetry system in Cynomolgus monkey by a minor invasive implantation surgery and jacket-system,to measure real-time physiological parameters in free moving monkey,which will provide valuable reference to relative researchers.In this study,small telemetry devices were surgically implanted on six cynomolgus monkeys,post the recovery from the surgery,heart rate,systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure and mean arterial pressure were continuously monitored within 24 hours for three times at a 3-week interval,all data was collected and further analyzed.The results showed:1.After a period of training,all animals were well acclimated to the jacket system.2.Minimal invasive implantation surgery was successful,all monkeys recovered well post surgery.3.By this telemetry system,all selected physiological parameters were successfully monitored on all monkeys,the heart rate was between 145.25±1.48 and 182.17±2.14 beat/min,the systolic blood pressure was between 140.69±0.94 and 162.59±2.99 mmHg,the diastolic blood pressure was between 92.33±0.78 and 106.62±2.27 mmHg,the mean arterial pressure was between 113.69±1.29 and 133.85±2.37 mmHg.All data are in the range of normal values.4.No significant difference was observed in the mean heart rate and blood pressure between each time-point(P>0.05),which indicated that it's stable and reproducible technique to monitor animals' physiological parameters.In a conclusion,this study established the telemetry system in free moving cynomolgus monkeys and successfully monitored relative physiological parameters(heart rate and blood pressure);it showed good stability and reproducibility,provided valuable reference in conscious cynomolgus monkeys.
