“Flower Production Technology” course is one of the core courses for the majors of garden technology and horticultural technology in vocational and technical education.Wuhu Institute of Technology has not conducted a targeted course evaluation of this course.And less has been known about systemic suggestions of the course.In this study,CIPP evaluation model was used to evaluate “Flower Production Technology” course,and suggestions was fed back.Our focus was to help the school to clarify some problems for the course,giving suggestions to the construction of curriculum,and to further improve the teaching quality of the course.In this study,we firstly understood the theoretical basis and research status of the CIPP evaluation model,through a large number of literatures.Then,with materials of the curriculum construction from WH Institute of Technology,the curriculum evaluation plan of “Flower Production Technology” course was designed,including context evaluation,input evaluation,process evaluation,and product evaluation.By the methods of surveys,questionnaires,and interviews etc.,the opinions and suggestions from the faculty,teachers and students to the course were obtained.With the above information and data,a reference for the construction of the course was provided,to promote the curriculum improvement of the course and teaching quality.Our results showed that “Flower Production Technology” course has been well conducted,with clear curriculum goals and teaching objectives,in line with the cultivation objectives of education for students in both landscape technology major and horticultural technology major.However,there were some disadvantages.Firstly,teaching resources(multimedia equipment,training room equipment)were wearing and aging,and needed to be updated.Secondly,the number of teachers for the course was too small to meet the needs of the course.Thirdly,although the teaching settings of the various teachings were in line with curriculum standards and curriculum designs,the practice teaching did not conform to the students' learning situation and course characteristics,which resulted in the poor hands-on ability of the actual operation to some students.Lastly,students had low scores in this course,which would be affected by the shortcomings in the current situation of the above courses,and by students' learning habits and learning attitudes.Based on the results of this study,we put forward constructive suggestions on the curriculum setting,curriculum system construction,teaching resource allocation,and advice on both teachers' knowledge,ability,quality,and students' learning attitudes and learning habits.
