Study On Grassland Animal Husbandry Development And Berdsmen’s Livelihood In Mongolia

Mongolia is a large animal husbandry,animal husbandry is the basic industry of national economic development in Mongolia.It not only absorbs a large number of domestic labor employment,but also is the main source of livelihood of herdsmen.Ninety-eight percent of the resources consumed in the development of animal husbandry in Mongolia is from grasslands.In recent years,due to the frequent occurrence of natural disasters such as drought,snow disaster,overgrazing and mineral resources exploitation,the grassland ecological environment has been severely damaged,resulting in the decline of the carrying capacity of natural grassland.Because of the direct relationship between the grassland animal husbandry and the herdsmen’s livelihood in Mongolia,the degradation of grassland makes it difficult for the herdsmen.In order to explore the influence of the development of grassland animal husbandry,this study takes Wurigen sumu in Gobi province in Mongolia as the empirical analysis.The research is divided into two aspects.On the one hand,The main problems of animal husbandry development should be found out by analyzing the changes between forage production and livestock breeding,on the other hand,through multiple regression analysis,analysis of the influence of the number of livestock,family factors,income factors and natural disasters on Herdsmen’s Livelihood.The results show that Mongolia’s Grassland carrying capacity declined result from the climate change and overgrazing.The frequent occurrence of natural disasters and the low commercialization rate of livestock products lead to low efficiency of animal husbandry development,so that the income of herdsmen from the animal husbandry is not high,and even become worse.The plight in animal husbandry will adversely affect the livelihood of herdsmen.According to the impact of the development of animal husbandry in Mongolia on the livelihood of herdsmen,this paper puts forward some suggestions,including the establishment and improvement of disaster prevention mechanism,improvement of the commodity rate of animal products and value-added,the protection of grassland animal husbandry,improving non livestock income and so on.
